WHAT DID GOD SAY TO ME THIS MORNING

Today marks the last weekend of this year and of this decade? What will you do with it? Will you treat it like all the other Saturdays? Will you clean? Will you rest? Will you do what you’ve always done, because we know when you do what you’ve always done, you get what you’ve always gotten.

Last night I went and worked out at my new gym. It’s a sauna style workout where you burn more calories because you’re in an infrared sauna while you are working out. It’s quite challenging, but it is exactly what I need…something different to get me going again on a regular exercise routine. One of the things that I wrote down back in February of this year was to have a new healthy weight and to be totally honest, I have gained weight. Yes I feel very healthy, but I know that the extra weight has come from poor eating habits, which means my weight is probably not all that healthy.

As I finished my HIIT (high intensity interval training), and exited the sauna, I had two thoughts. First of all, it was 124 degrees fahrenheit in that sauna and the first thought I had was, hell is hotter than this (so let that be a reminder to live a righteous and holy life for Jesus. In the words of Sofia on the movie The Color Purple, “it ain’t worth it Miss Celie). LOL LOL LOL!

My 2nd thought was, instead of waiting for the new year, which is in 4 days, I am planting seeds of working out right now. That means that whatever I can get in the ground in this season of 2019, I will reap the harvest in 2020. We have 4 days left to plant. What will you plant in 2019 so that you can see it spring forth in 2020?

Whatever it is, don’t wait until 2020, start right now! If you want to have a better life, write down what a better life looks like right now. If you want better finances, follow the plans that Jesus laid out about money right now. If you want better relationships, follow the plans that Jesus laid out about relationships right now. If you want better health, follow the plans Jesus laid out about what to eat right now. You want a better job, then ask God what you should be doing every day with the time He blesses you with, but ask Him right now. The bottom line is this: Talk to God about everything right now in 2019, so that you can plant God-given seeds on fertile ground. Then in 2020, you will reap what you have sown.

Today’s Scriptural Surprise comes from the book of Acts, chapter 18. The verses that stood out were Acts 18:9-10, where the Lord said to Paul: “Don’t be afraid, but keep on speaking and don’t be silent. For I am with you, and no one will lay a hand on you to hurt you, because I have many people in this city.”

When I read the study notes for this portion of scripture, Dr. Tony Evans said that Paul was often deemed a superhero, but if the Lord had to tell him not to be afraid, it meant he struggled with fear, just like some of us do (I know I do sometimes). The part that really stood out in the study notes was when Dr. Evans said:

When you similarly find your emotions getting the better of you, heed God’s Word and go to Him in prayer, accessing his heavenly resources for your earthly circumstances so that “the peace of God which surpasses all understand, can guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.”(Philippians 4:6-7) Dr. Tony Evans Study Bible

That one line right there is enough to make you shout! Go to God in prayer so that you can access his heavenly resources for your earthly circumstances!! WOW!!

God still has time to blow your mind in the next four days, so plant a seed of prayer right now and make up in your mind to wake up early to pray for the next 4 days. In January of this year, I wrote down a goal to “Spend time with the Lord,” and guess what? The Lord has exceeded and surpassed my expectations! I love the intimate time I spend with the Lord daily and the relationship (not the religion) that I am reaping right now!

Be encouraged and go plant your seeds today! You reap what you sow!
