I know you!
This morning I woke up to several praise and worship songs crooning from my echo dot alarm. But the one that stood out and got me right there in the presence of the Lord was, You Know My Name, by Tasha Cobbs Leonard featuring Jimi Cravity! Y’all, I hadn’t even made it to the prayer closet or the restroom and I was already in full praise mode! That thang just ministered to me soooo good that I was just on standing on the side of my bed shaking my head and worshipping!!!
I finally got into the prayer closet and I heard the Holy Spirit say, I know your name AND your nickname!! See Faye and Frank (that’s my parents) gave me my name, but the Lord created me and He says I AM HIS and He knows ME! Yes my parents were the method of delivery that He chose to bring me here to this earth, but He KNOWS Me more than them because He created me. I may have their features. I may even have their mannerisms, and their work ethic, etc., but MY CREATOR KNOWS ME inside and out. There are things that my parents don’t know about me, but God does. Just meditate on that because somebody feels alone like nobody understands them or knows them. But I came by to tell you that GOD KNOWS YOUR NAME! HE KNOWS YOU. HE SEES YOU. HE IS WITH YOU. HE GOT YOU. And no matter what is going on in your life…HE KNOWS!
As I gave the Lord praise this morning with that in mind, I kept praying…and I mean I was going IN IN on prayer this morning. I was playing The Great Shepherd by Psalmist Raine in the background!! Y’all I was going in so hard, that I was 5 minutes late posting the wake up call to my prayer challenge group!!! Listen, sometimes you just need to get before God and just full out worship. Songs can take you into a whole other spiritual dimension! And to be honest, it can be done with praise and worship music, but you can also take yourself to another dimension with secular music. That’s why you have to be careful what you listen to. Both can take you places, but some places aren’t where you are supposed to be!! Lyrically, some songs can put you in a space that God never intended for you to be, but the enemy has you bowing down to his agenda and doing things his way…all through a song!
But back to my Conversation With God this morning, He reminded me of a few conversations I have been having with people and He said:
I made it where you can’t figure it out.
I have it figured out for you already.
Trust My Way.
Even in my own life, I have struggled with trying to figure out next steps, next moves, which direction to go, how to do this, should I do that, etc. And the Holy Spirit wants me and you to know, He made it where WE can’t figure it out. So stop trying to. A friend of mine told me that yesterday that she has stopped trying to figure it out. That’s good right? Yes, it’s good only if your next step is to Ask Holy Spirit what to do. He said, I have it figured out for you already. But we have to spend time with Him and engage in a conversation through prayer time with Him to get it.
Holy Spirit said, I have it figured out and I have the power to reconfigure you and get you back on the right path when you have tried to figure it out on your own!
In my Scriptural Surprise this morning in John 6, it went right along with God knowing our name. I was reading through chapter 6 and in the study notes for verses 70-71 of the, you already know, Tony Evans Study Bible, Dr. Evans said: Nothing that happened throughout the course of Jesus’s ministry, including Judas’s betrayal, took Jesus by surprise. God’s plan would be fulfilled even though it involved using satan and his followers to accomplish it!!!!
He already has it figured out yall! He knows your name. He knows when you get off track. He knows how to get you back on track. He knows how to use your mess for your message and He does it all so that He can get the glory! We have to trust God’s way. My friend shared this scripture with me last night and it is still sitting at the top of my mind! It’s 2 Samuel 22:29-31 in the Message Bible.
Suddenly, God, your light floods my path,
God drives out the darkness.
I smash the bands of marauders,
I vault the high fences.
What a God! His road
stretches straight and smooth.
Every God-direction is road-tested.
Everyone who runs toward him
Makes it.
Meditate on this scripture, with the music I have linked, and knowing and believing that God knows your name, He has already figured it ALL out for you and KNOWS it all. HIS WAY is the right way and the ONLY WAY. And when you run towards Him, you will MAKE IT!
