Being Wise vs Being Stupid Fon Strong James

Welcome to the OABG Daily Blog and Podcast!

We desperately need God’s wisdom. I desperately need God’s wisdom. I have done some foolish things in my life and I am at a point now where I just don’t want to take that foolish route anymore. This morning I woke up with quite a few thoughts on my mind and of course I immediately started talking to God. I acknowledged Him as my Lord and Savior, revered Him as The Holy One, confessed my sins, thanked Him, and then just started talking to Him.

I often times find myself getting weary in the wait and I know that they that wait on the Lord shall renew their strength. What I realize in these moments is that maybe I am not as strong as I think, but I am definitely stronger than I used to be. LOL! I laid there just talking to God. I smiled. I shedded a few tears. I cuddled up. Talked some more and knew that I was in a safe space right there in His presence.

I want to encourage you today. If you ever get anxious while waiting on the promise, just talk to God. What will definitely change is the peace in your heart.

Now before I get all teary-eyed again because I am in that kind of snuggly cuddle mood this morning, let’s jump into our Scriptural Bible Study of Proverbs Chapter 9 where we learn about wisdom versus foolishness. I can remember times where I would wake up and my mind would immediately think of something foolish to do. I thank God that I have been delivered from that life and that I continue to pursue wisdom daily.

In this chapter, we see a contrast drawn between Lady Wisdom and Madame Whore! See, I keep telling y’all that the Message Translation ain’t playing around because many of us need the raw version of the Bible to apply it to our previously raw-lived lives!! Okay!

Here’s what I learned from Proverbs 9:

  • Give up foolishness if you want to live.

  • Let understanding guide your steps.

  • If you’re going to become wise, you have to get to know God through His Word and take Him seriously!!! (this right here alone is lesson enough for us today, right)

  • Wisdom is the ability to understand the divine perspective and apply it to life.

  • Wisdom comes from God.

  • Wisdom keeps you from dying an untimely death through foolishness.

  • Don’t try to correct folks who don’t take responsibility for their errors because they will only hate you for it.

  • Instead, correct a wise man, one who learns form his error, and he will love you.

  • If you have good sense, instruction will help you to have better sense.

  • If you live right, education will help you know even more.

  • Don’t listen to stupid or foolish people who try to steer you to do things in secret that aren’t right.

I mean what more can be said after that y’all? If wisdom comes from God, then foolishness comes from Satan. Bottomline: Respect and obey the Lord. Read His Word for Wisdom and don’t be stupid or listen to stupid people who aren’t wise. Remember wisdom comes from God. If you ain’t from God, then you from the enemy! And like I said earlier…I have been delivered from foolish!
