Today’s blog and podcast is going to be a bit different. This morning I had this heavy feeling all over me and I wasn’t sure what it was really about. I found myself praying, but my mind was actively thinking. I tried to pray against the distractions of my mind, and I probably did spiritually, but that same natural mind wouldn’t let me believe it, so my mind kept wandering. The enemy was trying to impede my thoughts and keep me distracted from just flowing. But I kept praying in the Spirit anyway. Let that be an encouragement to you, that even when you don’t feel like you’re knocking down walls in your prayers, keep praying in the Spirit. The Holy Spirit is knocking them down for you.

Now again, I was praying but I wasn’t feeling that release. So I grabbed my Prayers That Rout Demons book and started commanding my morning. Now I do that part every morning and guess what, still no release. It was almost as if I was just going through the motions. I wasn’t going to give in though. I wasn’t just going to settle. So I flipped the pages randomly in the book and landed on page 58 where the title was: Breaking the Power of Schizophrenia and Doublemindedness. And before I could let my mind talk me out of praying these prayers because I don’t consider myself schizophrenia but I know I have experienced being doubleminded, which can be defined as someone who is constantly living in a state of compromise. Half of you lives for God, while the other half lives for your bad habit. So in essence, we all have experienced it.

Again, before my mind took over and tried to establish pridefulness (thinking I couldn’t possibly be dealing with this since I pray every day), I started praying the prayers. I want to share some of them with you in part because as an author myself, I am not in the business of totally reproducing a book. I suggest you grab a copy of this book because like today, it helped me bind and rebuke some spirits that I otherwise wouldn’t have been able to identify on my own.

Here are a few of the prayers that I prayed that I believe we all should pray:

  • I bind and rebuke the spirit of doublemindedness in the name of Jesus (James 1:8).

  • I bind and cast out all spirits of depression, despondency, despair, discouragement, and hopelessness in the name of Jesus.

  • I bind and cast out all spirits of perfection, pride, vanity ego, intolerance, frustration, and impatience in the name of Jesus.

  • I bind and cast out all spirits of unfairness, withdrawal, pouting, unreality, fantasy, daydreaming, and vivid imagination in the name of Jesus.

  • I bind and cast out all spirits of talkativeness, nervousness, tension, and fear in the name of Jesus.

  • I bind and cast out all spirits of judgment, pride, and unteachableness in the name of Jesus.

  • I bind and cast out spirits of paranoia, suspicion, distrust, persecution, confrontation, and fear in the name of Jesus.

If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. 7That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord.  Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do. James 1:5-8 NIV

The Holy Spirit said to me: Continue seeking wisdom in all you do. Don’t assume you know.

The Scriptural Surprise backed it all up when I randomly went to Proverbs 14 and there were so many gems in that whole chapter that like a Lay’s potato chip, I can’t eat just one. Pull out your Bible and read that chapter to see which one or ones, stand out most for you.

Today, let’s be encouraged to break bad spirits with the power of prayer and seek God’s wisdom in all we do. His Word says when we ask God for wisdom, He will give it to us generously. The key is that we must believe and not doubt. The enemy wants you to doubt and he wants your mind, but we aren’t having it. Pray for your release like I prayed for mine this morning and allow the Holy Spirit to give you wisdom on this journey called life.
