But What About...?
WHAT DID MY LORD GOD SAY TO ME THIS MORNING?

Therefore, don’t worry about tomorrow, because tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. Matthew 6:34
What’s so interesting to me is where this verse falls in the book of Matthew, which happens to be where I turned this morning for the Scriptural Surprise. It comes right after Matthew 6:33 (of course), but I never considered how necessary it is to trust in verse 34 if you’re doing verse 33. Look at how the verse begins with the word “therefore.” When I looked up the word “therefore” it means for that reason; consequently. One of the best synonyms I use all the time here on the blog is the word “so.” And if I replace therefore with the synonym so, it gives a new way to read that verse. Let’s try it.
So, don’t worry about tomorrow, because tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
The word “therefore” is a transition word.
Now that’s really interesting because this morning I heard the Holy Spirit say these words to me:
Restart
Clear Canvas
Shifting
New Season
Don’t be afraid to come up higher.
Your comfort zone is being interrupted.
Follow Me, I AM…is going this way.
When we Matthew 6:33 (seek first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be provided for you), our next action is to not worry about where the Lord is taking us or how he is shifting us. We don’t need to worry about new starts, restarts, fresh canvases or new seasons. When we seek first the Kingdom of God, the Lord is saying our comfort zones will be interrupted, but we are not to be afraid because he is the with us in the interruption. He is the one doing the shifting!! He said to Follow Him, He’s taking you a different route.
This morning, let us be encouraged to drop whatever we are currently doing when Jesus interrupts our routines, to follow Him.
I can hear you now though. But what about this or what about that? Should I just leave this here? Undone? What about this thing I have been doing for so long that you told me to do Lord? Should I just leave it?
Matthew 4:19 says: “Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.”
The answer is Follow Jesus. When He interrupts your plans, your day, your deal, your business, your love life, your whatever…He is shifting you higher to a new season. He is giving you a clear canvas. He is restarting you. And we need not be afraid because we are seeking Him and His righteousness daily, THEREFORE, we don’t have to worry about anything we are leaving behind. He is providing everything we need and nothing we don’t.
When we focus on living for God’s kingdom today, we don’t have to ask, “but what about this or that?” We are seeking God and following Him. He IS THE WAY! (John 14:6).
