Demonstrated Faith! Fon

Faith must be demonstrated, not just discussed, to be beneficial in history. A person is justified by faith alone apart from works for heaven, but he is justified by works for usefulness on earth. - Dr. Tony Evans Bible (James 2:21-24).

And that’s how you kick off the morning…faith walking, not faith talking!

We are reading the book of James for the Scriptural Bible Study and we are in the 2nd chapter of James. It should be called the Faith Without Works Is Dead chapter, but there are other points that really stood out that I learned today and I want to share them with you.

But before I do that, I wanted to share a moment I had during prayer time. I thought about how God has always been with me and just began to cry. Have you ever done that? Just sat and thought about how God has been with you ALWAYS, even when you weren’t “with Him”? I was sitting in tears just thinking about God being there in the good times; bad times; the times where I didn’t acknowledge him; the times where I thought I was sneaking and hiding from Him; the times where I was scared in doctor’s offices; the times where I was rejected but no one knew how it impacted me; the times where I was faking; the times where I had anxiety and fear; and the times where I tried to drink away my sorrows. He was always there!! And today He is still here! He is a faithful Father!!! I encourage you to spend a moment today just thinking about all the times God was WITH YOU and give Him thanks for never leaving you!

Now back to James, chapter 2:

  • It is evil to make distinctions between people (like rich and poor).

  • Favoritism is a sin (I had no idea about this!)

  • When you practice discrimination against those made in the image of God, you’re guilty of sin, no matter how many other rules you follow.

  • When I love my neighbor as myself, I am doing well.

  • When I obey in all but one thing, I am guilty of all things.

  • God is not as interested in my “amen” as He is in my “actions.”

  • When I believe God, it is credited to me as righteousness.

  • Faith without works is dead.

  • I am to speak and act like I know that I will stand before the judgement seat of Christ one day.

  • James wants us to know that IT IS possible for a believer to have useless faith, one that is devoid of good works.

  • Put my faith into action by helping those in need. If a person is hungry, I am not to be giving them a sermon or praying for them first, I am to give them a sandwich!! Then of course I can pray for them.

  • If I say that I trust God, then it should affect my feet!

  • Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to join Fon’s faith to her works!!!

  • Belief is demonstrated by what we do.

  • By works, our faith is made complete.

Be encouraged today to put your faith to work!!!

SALVATION PRAYER

If you don’t know Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior and you’re not a believer, but you have a desire to be, all you have to do is openly confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead (Romans 10:9). When you pray that prayer, you are saved. Get connected with a good, bible-based church in your community, stay connected to other believers, and start having daily conversations through prayer with God every single day. Welcome to your new life with Jesus Christ!!!
