Good Morning Y’all!! I think my kids being at Grandma’s house allows me to just bask and learn and sit and be in the presence of God during my prayer time. Well, not that they were ever up during my prayer time, but the freedom to just sit and listen to Him with no other responsibility to get to, other than sharing with you what He said to me on the blog and podcast.
I love just reading and studying the Word. It’s been some amazing mornings and to be honest, amazing days because I am just spending more time in His word! And it’s so true that it comes alive when you open it and just read and allow Holy Spirit to speak.
This morning I was studying about disciple-making, which is the key element of God’s Kingdom agenda!
I heard Holy Spirit say: Keep serving Me with your whole life. Your life is not your own. I created you for Kingdom purpose.
It made me realize that it’s a trick of the enemy for us to not know our purpose.
We were created for Kingdom Purpose and with discipleship being the 🔑 key element, to God’s Kingdom agenda. Our purpose is to do as Matthew 28:19 says. As followers of Jesus Christ, we are called to exercise authority on earth in Jesus name and model His Kingdom rule.
19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:19-20 NIV
While digging more into this verse, I learned that a disciple is a LEARNER who seeks to become the one He is following; and the goal of discipleship is to help people become PROGRESSIVELY like Christ in character, conduct, attitude, and actions. Are you progressively learning to become more like Christ with your character, your conduct, your attitude, and your actions? You first have to LEARN his character, his conduct, his attitude and his actions.
Our first assignment is to LEARN because our purpose will always be disciple-making!
We are to boldly live our lives as disciples and diligently equip others to do the same.
I love that word PROGRESSIVE because this morning when I got up later than I wanted to, I had to say, thank you Lord that I am still being progressive, even when I am not perfect!! See that’s a Word right there y’all. If you’re like me, then one hiccup can try to knock you off track. One missed workout. One missed practice. One minute (or many minutes) of lateness. But God is not looking for perfection. He does however want to see that we are SEEKING HIM and SEEKING to be like Him in a progressive manner.
God is not looking for perfection, but progression.
So this morning, I encourage you and challenge you at the same time to make up in your mind that you want to be like Christ. And that process is to be more and more like Him each and every day.
Our purpose is to make disciples, but we must first be discipled so that we can live as disciples. Everyday we must ensure that we are LEARNING and BECOMING more like JESUS. Remember, God made us to be ruler over the works of His hands. He put everything under our feet (Psalm 8:6).
