Don’t Labor One Day a Week Fon

This morning I heard the word LABOR from Holy Spirit. I immediately thought about today being Labor Day here in the United States. A day we set aside the first Monday of every September to celebrate the achievements and contributions of American workers. Except for the fact that some Americans are actually still working today on Labor Day.

Yeah see if you work in retail or fast food or at a car dealership, or any private business that doesn’t honor this day, you at work today! Hospitals at work today. Only federal workers actually get this day off officially.

Holy Spirit sent me to Exodus 20 for today’s conversation. He said, I AM the model, not the world.

[Earnestly] remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy (withdrawn from common employment and dedicated to God).

9 Six days you shall labor and do all your work,

10 But the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God; in it you shall not do any work, you, or your son, your daughter, your manservant, your maidservant, your domestic animals, or the sojourner within your gates.

11 For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. That is why the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it [set it apart for His purposes]. — Exodus 20:8-11 AMPC

You see verse 9? There is already a “LABOR DAY HOLIDAY” established in God’s work system. But we somehow have gotten off from that. I remember when almost everything was closed on Sunday.

Now I get it. Some religions recognize Saturday as the Sabbath and some recognize Sunday as the Sabbath. I honestly think God is more focused on us obeying the commandment because He didn’t give an actual day. He said work for six days, but the 7th day IS A SABBATH. It’s not even a choice! It says it is! And to obey this commandment means we don’t work on the 7th day, but we keep it holy, which means dedicated to God.

When I looked up the definition of labor, it means: work, toil, sweat, effort, travail, assignment, and grind. The opposite of labor means rest or ease.

Today, let us be encouraged to obey God’s Holy schedule instead of the world’s holiday schedule.

SALVATION PRAYER

If you don’t know Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior and you’re not a believer, but you have a desire to be, all you have to do is openly confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead (Romans 10:9). When you pray that prayer, you are saved. Get connected with a good, bible-based church in your community, stay connected to other believers, and start having daily conversations through prayer with God every single day. Welcome to your new life with Jesus Christ!!!
