Serve who you encounter!

Well I can’t come on here acting like I am fully rested, but I will come on here fully prayed up! Yes, I am blogging this morning from New Orleans after having attended a powerful event put on by Sarah Jakes Roberts called The Refuse to Lose Tour! I refuse to lose on completing any assignment that the Lord has put me in responsibility of. I don’t care if I got in late or not. I am waking up to pray.

As I was praying in the hotel this morning, I noticed something amazing that the Holy Spirit did. He allowed me to play back my entire yesterday and see the faces of all the people I encountered. I mean every single person. Now I said I am out of town attending an event right? So you know I encountered more people yesterday that I encounter on a normal day. I’m also in New Orleans, therefore I encountered every walk of life possible, as me and my women of God girl squad moved around through the city. The Holy Spirit brought back every person to my remembrance whether they were broken, broke, drunk, begging, wearing a suit, or serving me in a restaurant. I mean every single person flashed across my mind. That’s when I heard Him say: Encounters.

One thing I always pray is: Lord when they encounter me, let them encounter you! This is something I have prayed for a while, so when the Holy Spirit said the word encounter, I wasn’t quite sure what He meant, but I had an idea, so I kept praying in the Spirit. Then I heard:

  • Service

  • It’s Kingdom Work

  • You are on point to pray, prophesy, and provide.

As I was praying in the dark corner of my hotel room, I heard the Holy Spirit say, “I will tell you WHO.” This morning, I believe that I prayed for every person I encountered on this trip. They all came to my mind. Every single one of them were in HD on my mind as I prayed. A few of them kept coming back up, like the barefoot woman who was sitting on the sidewalk eating a plate of food with her fingers. She stood out to me several times. We don’t know anything about people we encounter, but we do know that God created every single person that we encounter. We don’t know what caused them to be eating on the sidewalk or dining in a fine restaurant with a fork. All I know is that this morning, the Holy Spirit used me to pray for God’s people and for me to know that when I encounter His people, I am to either pray, prophesy, or provide. And all of those equal service for the Kingdom.

My experience last night at the event was amazing and I am so thankful that I get to participate in events like these that empower me, uplift me, inform me, elevate my praise, and most importantly, events that magnify the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. One thing that Pastor Sarah said was, everything that she went through in her life that was tough, and that she didn’t give up on, allowed her to be right there with us, so that we could get what God wanted us to receive in that exact moment. It made me realize that yes, all things work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose (Romans 8:28); and that we each have an assignment when we encounter those God have put in presence and in our view.

Did I say anything to those people I passed through out my day? Some I made eye contact with and others I nodded or verbally said hello. But I didn’t say a word to the woman. I looked at her with my heart. But this morning, I know now that my assignment is to serve the Kingdom of God when I have an encounter that He orchestrated so that when I do my part; when I am obedient, His people can encounter Him through me… and through you. We are the hands and feet of Jesus. We do it all so that He can get the glory!

It’s never about us, but He uses us… when we are willing and obedient.
