Endure!

WHAT DID GOD SAY TO ME THIS MORNING

Today is a new day. That means I have new grace, new mercies, new favor, and new expectations of what God will do in my life. I push forward past any feelings of tiredness and feelings of wanting to just give up. I know that the Lord is with me and will never leave me.

This morning, I felt like I needed some real encouragement. You ever felt like that? I felt that way and while I was already in the prayer closet, I wasn’t feeling all the Holy Spirit hugs. I kept praying and pressing in more and more. Still not the warm and fuzzy Holy Spirit hugs that I have come to know. I felt myself getting frustrated. Had I not ushered the Holy Spirit into the prayer closet this morning? Was there something in my heart that wasn’t right? Why wasn’t I feeling like I always felt when I knew the Holy Spirit was right there in my prayer closet? I kept pressing. I kept praying.

I had prayed in the Spirit already, but then I started praying in my own language so I could understand and hear myself. I knew the Holy Spirit was there, but I needed to encourage myself with words He had already spoken to me. As soon I prayed, I began to relax and let go. It was then that started to to feel Him even more. I heard the Holy Spirit say, “Keep on praying, I’ll do the rest. Fon, sometimes I just want you to rest in my presence with no assignments from me, other than to just relax and sit with me.”

I think I had gotten into such a rhythm with my prayer time that I had specific expectations and once again, the Lord was reminding me that I was not in control. The Holy Spirit said to me, “Relax Fon, everything is flowing the way that I want.”

Y’all, letting go is truly something I seem to struggle with. Before my robust and consistent prayer life, I was always trying to control how things went in my life. I believe that God is allowing me to go through these moments and experiences in the prayer closet, where I HAVE to just sit and relax with Him. At first, I was feeling like I wasn’t hearing Him. But then I heard Him say, “I am right here, Fon. You don’t know what’s next, but I do. Just keep consistently praying, keep trusting Me, and keep your eyes on Me.

I sat there and soaked Him in.

I then heard Him say: “I will give you the desires of your heart. I need you to try not to control any of it though. Just keep losing control over and over…every time you feel like you want to take control back, don’t. Fon, I can do things suddenly for you, but I won’t when I know you’re not ready. And trust Me, I know exactly when you’re ready.”

I replied with tears forming in my eyes, “Lord please encourage me right now. I need you right now. I am trying to just keep going, but I need more encouragement.”

At that point, I opened my bible and right there already highlighted in yellow was 1 Corinthians 15:58. All I could do was let the tears drop. I wasn’t doubting God at all, but I needed to feel His presence more this morning. And as always, He encouraged me.

God is faithful. Like for real for real. I don’t just say that, I know this! Keep pressing into Him and building your relationship with Him through prayer. Like me, some days won’t start off being full of flow, perfect energy, and excitement, even when you’re right there in the prayer closet, but trust God. He will encourage you and give you the strength to endure as long as seek Him and keep praying.

SALVATION PRAYER

If you’re not a believer and have a desire to be, openly confess and declare with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead (Romans 10:9). When you pray that prayer out loud, you are saved. Get connected with a good, bible-based church in your community and start having a conversation through prayer with God every day.
