This morning, I felt ON FIRE for Jesus! I was praying bold like the prayers had a blaze on them ! I was lit for Jesus! The Holy Spirit filled me and I was fired up!! You hear me! FIRED UP! When attending college football games at my dear old college home, we chant a cheer that simply says, FIRED UP J-STATE, FIRED UP, HEY! This morning I was FIRED UP in the prayer closet! HEY!
That was the theme this morning! That was the Word I heard from the Holy Spirit. FIRE! Then I heard:
Purification Process
With you, in the fire
Lit Up
As I heard these words and jotted them down in my journal, I really didn’t know what the Holy Spirit was saying to me. I opened my Bible to Psalm 89 for the Scriptural Surprise and there in verse 46 was the word fired. I then Googled what fire means in the scripture and read in one article that fire is one of the most powerful themes in the Bible.
As I studied FIRE briefly this morning, I learned a few things:
Fire communicates the presence of God (Exodus 3:2-6)
Fire is synonymous with God’s glory (Exodus 24:17)
Fire is the manifestation of God (Acts 2:3-4)
A symbol of God’s anger and His judgement. (Psalm 89:46)
A symbol of God’s power.
This morning, the Holy Spirit was teaching me and I was learning. Here’s what else I learned:
The Holy Spirit is like a fire in at least three ways. He brings God’s presence, God’s passion, and God’s purity. God uses the Holy Spirit to remove sin from us. His fire cleanses and refines us. The Holy Spirit produces purity in our lives. God’s purpose is to purify us, and the Holy Spirit is the agent of our sanctification. The Holy Spirit is the presence of God as He indwells the heart of us as believers.
All of this fire talk had me thinking about the story I have read in the Bible and grew up hearing, where the three Hebrew boys: Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were thrown in the fiery furnace because they refused to bow down to King Nebuchadnezzar’s image. But guess what? God was WITH THEM in the fire and they came out with no effects of being in the fire!! They didn’t even SMELL LIKE SMOKE! They were PRESERVED FROM HARM!
As you read and meditate of God’s Word this morning and deepen your understanding of WHO God is, I want to encourage you to know that no matter what you’re going through, God is with you, even in the midst of what may seem like a fiery situation, God is with you! He may be taking you through a purification process in the midst of it. Or He could just be showing you… WHO HE IS!
Keep getting up. Keep praying. And keep getting FIRED UP for Jesus! To God be the Glory! Yes I’m LIT!
P.S. Here is a song that I had on repeat this morning. When I thought about fire, this song came to mind and I just kept playing it. My favorite part is when Earnest Pugh sings the word FIRE really low. LOL! I really try to hit that low note and feel like I am a Gospel singer when I do it! LOL LOL LOL! Listen to it here!
