Get to Know God Even More! Fon

This morning Holy Spirit said: Get to know Me even more. Share Me even more.

Well I have heard this similar phrasing quite a bit over the last year. It’s the mission and theme of my children’s homeschool program: To know God and make Him known. But I knew that Holy Spirit wanted to reveal more to me this morning so I went searching for scripture. I went seeking the Word of God and here’s the two verses that I landed on today:

Ephesians 1:17 (various translations that resonated with me)

I pray that the Father of glory, the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, would impart to you the riches of the Spirit of wisdom and the Spirit of revelation to know him through your deepening intimacy with him. — Ephesians 1:17 TPT

God of our Lord Jesus the Anointed, Father of Glory: I call out to You on behalf of Your people. Give them minds ready to receive wisdom and revelation so they will truly know You. — Ephesians 1:17 VOICE

[For I always pray to] the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, that He may grant you a spirit of wisdom and revelation [of insight into mysteries and secrets] in the [deep and intimate] knowledge of Him, — Ephesians 1:17 AMPC

I ask the glorious Father and God of our Lord Jesus Christ to give you his Spirit. The Spirit will make you wise and let you understand what it means to know God. — Ephesians 1:17 CEV

If we as believers carry the spirit of wisdom and revelation, we will know God better. We will know God personally and more intimately. Revelation means that we unveil truth about God. Wisdom gives us insight about God.

Then I went to John 17. Now I read the entire chapter of John 17 in the CEV translation and I encourage you to do the same (see assignments below), but it is verse 3 that I spoke to what I heard Holy Spirit say:

John 17:3 (various translations that resonated with me)

Eternal life is to know you, the only true God, and to know Jesus Christ, the one you sent. — John 17:3 CEV

And this is eternal life: [it means] to know (to perceive, recognize, become acquainted with, and understand) You, the only true and real God, and [likewise] to know Him, Jesus [as the] Christ (the Anointed One, the Messiah), Whom You have sent. — John 17:3 AMPC

because You have given Me total authority over humanity. I have come bearing the plentiful gifts of God; and all who receive Me will experience everlasting life, a new intimate relationship with You (the one True God) and Jesus the Anointed (the One You have sent). — John 17:3 VOICE

What I learned today is that the more we study the Bible, the better we will know God.

In my seeking, I landed on a commentary about knowing God and the author said that it’s not enough to have a spiritual bank account. We must examine our wealth to know what we have in Christ.

I thought about times in life where we are trying to get something. Maybe a job or a deal or something beneficial. And we don’t know anyone at the company or anyone who can help us get what we want, but we have a friend that knows a person at the company we want to work at; or we have a friend at the dealership that has the car we want. And what we often will say to see if we can really use this person’s connection is: do you know him, know him?

When we say we know God, my question is, do you know him, know him? Like can you talk to Him and have a conversation with Him? Does He know YOU? (Because sometimes we can know someone, but they don’t know you).

Let us be encouraged to get to know God even more so that we can be obedient and on assignment to share Him even more with others, so they too can know Him, know Him!

P.S. I just love my Conversations With God! Don’t you?

SALVATION PRAYER

If you don’t know Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior and you’re not a believer, but you have a desire to be, all you have to do is openly confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead (Romans 10:9). When you pray that prayer, you are saved. Get connected with a good, bible-based church in your community, stay connected to other believers, and start having daily conversations through prayer with God every single day. Welcome to your new life with Jesus Christ!!!
