This morning was most certainly a push through kind of morning. Every time I push through, I am always pleased with myself on the other side of it. As I write the blog this morning, I am on the other side of a push through. My body is in need of some serious rest and it’s telling me such, but when you are on assignment by God, expect to have enough energy and strength to push through whatever deficit that is on the surface, that may seem like you won’t be able to make it. But if God be for us, who can be against us?

This morning as I was praying, I heard two words: agenda and itinerary.

I asked the Holy Spirit what they meant and these were the two questions that followed:

  1. When was the last time you checked My agenda?

  2. When was the last time you viewed the itinerary?

I remember the first time I heard the word itinerary. I was in high school and my band director used it to describe a document that had all the details of our band trip. He had gone through the process of writing down what we would do and when we would do it. There were times, dates, and details on the document. And it was structured in a such a way that even if you weren’t going on the trip, you would know where we were at all times. The parents who weren’t chaperoning could feel at ease about their child’s whereabouts when they had the agenda and the itinerary.

But that got me to thinking about the two questions as it relates to God’s Kingdom agenda and His itinerary for our lives. Do we even know what His Kingdom agenda is or are we just operating through life kinda sorta knowing? Have we checked and viewed the latest itinerary for our days which tells us what we are doing and when we are doing it? Spending time each morning in prayer is the exact space for both of these to be revealed. It’s the space where the Holy Spirit can confirm the Kingdom agenda through His Word and it’s also the time and space you hear from God so that you can write out your daily itinerary or your assignment. Each assignment by God fulfills His kingdom agenda.

Today, the Holy Spirit said, get the blog done, get the kids off to school, and then get some rest. That’s my itinerary for part of today. When I wake up, I will talk to Holy Spirit about the rest of the day and how it should be spent.

A question often posed by friends, family members, or co-workers is: What’s on your agenda for today? They are often asking the question to either just be nosey or to see how they can fit into your day. But if you haven’t had a conversation with God , then you can’t answer that question with the peace of mind that comes with being on God’s agenda and doing what He asks of you.

Instead of YOU making the plans today, how about having a conversation with God and asking Him what’s best for you to do today, as it relates to fulfilled His Kingdom agenda. Mines just happens to be rest today, but I know that even rest being a part of my itinerary today, is necessary for me to be ready for what’s next on God’s agenda.
