“Keep your eyes on Me and My Kingdom Agenda,” says the Lord. “Check My Kingdom Agenda and adjust your itinerary for the day to be sure it is in alignment with what I AM doing, because what I AM doing is the only thing that really matters.”
This is what I heard this morning as I spent my first minutes of the day with the Holy Spirit in prayer. He also told me to “Keep company with those who will help you move my Kingdom Agenda forward.”
I went to Google to see what I could find on God’s Kingdom Agenda and of course wouldn’t you know, one of my favorite pastors and the namesake of my favorite Bible (the Tony Evans Study Bible) came up! And here’s what he said:
God’s agenda is His Kingdom. The Kingdom of God is the alternative to the Kingdom of this world. God has an alternative plan for us called His Kingdom Agenda. The Bible exists to share God’s movement in history toward the establishment and expansion of His Kingdom. The Bible highlights the connectivity throughout which is His Kingdom.
The Kingdom Agenda is the visible manifestation of the comprehensive rule of God over Every Area of Life.
~ Dr. Tony Evans
As I read this and got UNDERSTANDING even more, I also thought about the fact that we are IN the world but not OF this world. Here are a few other scriptures that back that up:
Jesus answered, “My kingdom is not of this world. If my kingdom were of this world, my servants would have been fighting, that I might not be delivered over to the Jews. But my kingdom is not from the world.” John 18:36
If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. John 15:19
I do not ask that you take them out of the world, but that you keep them from the evil one. John 17:15
They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. John 17:16
Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. Colossians 3:2
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. Romans 12:2
But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, Philippians 3:20
I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” John 16:33
Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. 1 John 4:4
Today, let us be encouraged to not get so caught up in this world and the evil one’s agenda. Let’s make sure what we are doing each and every day lines up with the God’s agenda, which is the expansion of HIs Kingdom!
P.S. Don’t forget your Scriptural Bible Study reading. We are in chapter 21 of Deuteronomy. Be sure to write down what stood out to you. Today I got a better understanding of how murders and rebellious sons were handled in those times. What stood out to you?
SALVATION PRAYER
If you don’t know Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior and you’re not a believer, but you have a desire to be, all you have to do is openly confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead (Romans 10:9). When you pray that prayer, you are saved. Get connected with a good, bible-based church in your community, stay connected to other believers, and start having daily conversations through prayer with God every single day. Welcome to your new life with Jesus Christ!!!
