Persistent Faith Fon Strong James

Welcome to the OABG Daily Blog and Daily Podcast!

Y’all I am coming out of the gate this morning super early and super excited about a new season! Yes, today marks the beginning of a new chapter in the lives of me and my family as we embark on the Homeschooling Journey! Yes, my kids are being fully homeschooled this year by me (and a really amazing program called Classical Conversations). Over the last few months, I have been inundating myself with this whole notion of homeschooling my kids and I was able to recognize through reflection, how God prepared me for this new season. How many of you know that God won’t just thrust you into the deep end of a thing? He will PREPARE you! Yes! Even you, the person who doesn’t consider yourself perfect at preparation.

And that’s what the Holy Spirit had to remind me of this morning. He said: Follow My lead. I will show you what to do. You don’t have to take the lead, I WILL. Then He said, “You don’t have to create from scratch, I already created everything. Remember, I am right here. Remember to surrender daily.

That’s exactly what I am doing very very early this morning. And I will tell you, it feels good to be getting back up in the early morning hours to spend the first part of my day with God. But it feels even more amazing that I get to spend this next year being the lead teacher for my children and giving them a whole new way of learning where God is the center of it all. To be totally honest, I am relearning a lot myself and I think God set it up that way for a purpose. One thing I do know is that as I continue to seek Him, He will continue to reveal to me the way to go. Today, I embark on a new journey and I am blessed to have two beautiful children who are just as excited!

This morning, as I was reading Proverbs 25 for the Scriptural Bible Study, I heard two phrases: Be persistent and be patient. These two phrases came to me as I read Proverbs 25:15 which says: A ruler can be persuaded through patience, and a gentle tongue can break a bone. This verse was a cross reference to Luke 18:1-8 where Jesus tells the disciples a story about a widow who would not give up. Because of her persistence, she got what she was petitioning for. I learned from Dr. Myles Munroe that prayer is petitioning. I believe Holy Spirit was encouraging me this morning to keep praying and don’t give up. Dig my heels in even more. Be persistent in my prayers. Put God in remembrance of His Word. And then be patient in my persistence, for Luke 18:8 says God will hear my plea and answer me quickly. The last part of that verse though challenges us. It says: When Jesus comes back, will He find this kind of persistent faith on earth? That suggests that we always need to pray and never give up…not just when we are seeking something from God. But He needs to find us always in this persistent posture of prayer.

There were three other things that were highlighted to me this morning from Proverbs 25 and one of them was about the nagging wife again. I said, “Okay, Lord, this KEEPS ON coming up. Is this for me?” LOL! I said, let me make sure I pay attention to this proverb because I don’t want to be THAT WIFE!

The other two scriptures were 21 and 22 which says, if you see your ENEMY hungry (not your friend or a stranger), FEED THEM! If you see them thirsty, give them something to drink. We talking about your enemy now! Read that again, YOUR ENEMY! The Bible says your generosity will surprise them with goodness and God will look after you! You know the phrase, kill them with kindness comes to mind here. Not that I want them dead or anything. Just saying that we are to FEED our enemies if we SEE them hungry. Have you seen your enemy lately? Were they hungry? I think it says a lot to notice their need verses turning your nose up! Now that’s a word!

And finally, verses 16 and 27 speak about eating too much sweets. It was there twice so I figured it was something we needed to pay attention to. It says, if you find honey, eat only what you need, otherwise you’ll get sick from it and vomit. It also said it’s not appropriate for us to seek honor either.

So be patient. Be persistent in your faith. Always pray and never give up. Feed your enemies. Don’t eat too much sweets. And again, don’t be a nagging wife! But more importantly, let God lead the way in everything you do.

We are headed to the community day for Classical Conversations and ya girl signed up to be a tutor. That means I will be modeling the lessons for the students and parents. Nope, I am not a “teacher” so don’t call me that or ask me did I shift careers. What I am is a lead learner! Now that is a title that I can totally rock! See y’all right back here tomorrow! Be sure to read Proverbs 26!
