Prayers Heard. Blessings Defined. Fon

This morning I had an early morning visitor. Now of course the Lord does visit me every morning. But today, it was my son. He came to my room prior to my 3:30 a.m. prayer alarm going off. Matter of fact, the child just came in and turned the light on and said, “Mommy, I have a headache.” Instead of doing what I normally do, I invited him to come jump in the bed with me. It’s been a while since I have done that, but he climbed his little self into the bed. Neither one of us went back to sleep. Then I heard Him say, “can I pray with you this morning?”

Do yall see what God did?

Yesterday morning my son woke up around the same time and turned on YouTube to listen. Today my son woke up at the same time, and came to his mom’s room to listen to me pray to our heavenly Father! And you know why? Because I did what God told me to do yesterday. We all went to sleep with no TV! That generational curse was broken off of us IMMEDIATELY, just as I prayed! We can’t ignore the instructions of the Lord y’all.

God permits us to experience negative circumstances like the ones I did this week with my kids being disobedient, so that He can reveal His comfort and power. I read these two very important points in my Tony Evans bible study notes:

  1. Openness and honesty before God is essential.

  2. Confession and repentance are necessary if we don’t want our prayers hindered.

I heard the Holy Spirit say to me this morning: Look forward to how I will act on your behalf.

Then I read this also in the study notes: Even when we go through things, God is working it out for our good because we love HIM! It was as if God was speaking to me when I read that. In my journal, I wrote it this way: Even when you go through things, I AM working it out for your good because you love Me.

I read Psalms 6 today. It was a prayer for mercy. To receive mercy, is to avoid getting the punishment we deserve for our sins. This psalm is of David and even in his pain he was running TO GOD, not FROM GOD for mercy and understanding. Dr. Evans points out that we can go to God for mercy and understanding, even in the context of our sin and failure, because of his loyal love and our covenant relationship through Jesus Christ.

I also read Psalms 66 today and verses 16-20 really stood out to me and encouraged me.

16 All who worship God,
come here and listen;
I will tell you everything
God has done for me.
17 I prayed to the Lord,
and I praised him.
18 If my thoughts had been sinful,
he would have refused
to hear me.
19 But God did listen
and answered my prayer.
20 Let’s praise God!
He listened when I prayed,
and he is always kind.

When we address our personal sin, we open the door to experience the faithful love of God!

As I was closing out my reading time, I did something I always do…over-read. Well, is there really such a thing? LOL! But I read the study notes for Psalms 67 and I believe anytime I do this, it’s because Holy Spirit wants me to see it.

Have you ever wondered WHY God blesses you?

Here’s what I found out this morning. God blesses us so that we will:

  • Make His priorities our own.

  • Give Him public praise.

  • Use His blessings in such a way that others will see Him for who He is and be compelled to take Him seriously.

Have you been blessed by God? Well now you know why!

SALVATION PRAYER

If you don’t know Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior and you’re not a believer, but you have a desire to be, all you have to do is openly confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead (Romans 10:9). When you pray that prayer, you are saved. Get connected with a good, bible-based church in your community, stay connected to other believers, and start having daily conversations through prayer with God every single day. Welcome to your new life with Jesus Christ!!!
