WHAT DID GOD SAY TO ME THIS MORNING

What a restful weekend I had!! I hope you are reading this on this Monday morning feeling well-rested! I got so much sleep this weekend that I wanted more. I actually got up later this morning, but still was ready to pray for 1 hour. Like I have said many times on this blog, me praying for 1 hour is non-negotiable. Sometimes I may not wake up at 5 a.m., but I won’t let the time change stop me from surrendering my day to the Lord for His will to be done on earth through me!

This morning I prayed a prayer for a lot of women. I was calling out names of known and unknown women and just praying for them and lifting them up. I prayed for my children and their new classmates for this upcoming school year. I prayed for my neighbors that I know and the many that I don’t know. I prayed for our nation because let’s be clear, we most certainly need it. And I had this pulling to pray for those who feel like they need to get everything right before they can come to Jesus.

I want to encourage you reading this blog that you are to come to Jesus just as you are. You don’t have to be perfect, polished, or perfected. I prayed for you to just come to Him broken, bruised, battered, bullied, bitter, and busted!! His arms are wide open. Just call on His name and say, Jesus come into my heart right now because I need you.

Sometimes we get caught up in thinking we need to “get it together” before we come to Jesus. Chile naw! Jesus can fix us way better than anyone else can. So just surrender to Him today. I don’t know who this is for, but you know if you’ve been feeling ashamed or some kind of way about talking to Jesus about it.

I remember how I felt when I was getting a divorce as a Christian woman. I felt bad. I felt like I couldn’t come to Jesus, but to be honest, that’s exactly WHO I needed to go to. Not my friend girls, not my mom, not no other man, but Jesus! See we be feeling all ashamed to come to Jesus with stuff we know He didn’t give us permission to do in the first place, but God. That’s it…BUT GOD! We can actually come to Him and He will remove the shame. He will heal you. He will fix your brokenness. I have learned that can’t nobody do me like Jesus! Can’t nobody love me back to good spirits like Jesus!

So I am talking to you…talk to Jesus about it, no matter WHAT IT IS. There is nothing, I mean NOTHING you have done that you can’t talk to Jesus about, including divorce. That’s for somebody because I know I needed to read something like this when I was in that space. I have since learned that God hates divorce because of of what it does to us. It’s like experiencing a death, and he doesn’t want to see us go through that (which is why you should always get His permission to marry the person in the first place), but I am a living testimony that if you find yourself going through one, He will be right there loving you like no one can.

This morning the scriptural surprise from from the book of Titus and Philemom. I read the whole book of Philemon (LOL!!!). You doing something if you reading whole books of the bible! Go to Philemon and you’ll see why I am cracking up laughing right now!

Anyway, the verse that stood out to me was Titus 2:12 (see it pictured above). I also like how Paul who was writing to Titus and Philemon while in prison for spreading the Good News about Jesus, was giving instructions on how to promote right teaching.

He said for the men to do this:

  • Exercise self control

  • Be worth of respect

  • Live Wisely

  • Have a strong faith

  • Be filled with love and patience

  • Do good deeds of every kind.

  • Teach the younger men to live wisely.

  • Let everything you do reflect the integrity and seriousness of your teaching.

He said this to the women:

  • Don’t speak evil of others (this is straight up gossiping)

  • Don’t be a heavy drinker!

  • Teach what is good.

  • Love your husband and your children

  • Live wisely

  • Take care of the home.

  • Do good.

  • Be submissive.

As I was looking at this, I started thinking about what we promote in our living and what we promote on social media. There are some people and some friends who are living totally opposite of the lists above and we know them. Isn’t it up to us as followers of Jesus to talk to them and encourage them to live wisely?

The Holy Spirit is calling us to be obedient and promote HIM. We are to represent or re-present Him in all we do! We are to live wisely. I am encouraging myself as I write this blog to teach what is good.

Who is God instructing you to talk to and encourage today? Don’t be afraid of their response, but more afraid of not being obedient to what God has called you to do with regard to speaking to that person. God needs us to do His will on earth. Let’s not promote godless living by ignoring those who do. Let’s be bold and promote and encourage others to live wisely. Read Titus 2:15. It says we have the authority to do this, so don’t let anyone ignore you or disregard what you say.

Have a blessed and obedience-filled Monday!!
