Share the Gospel, Not the Gossip

I am getting straight to what Holy Spirit said to me this morning! He said: Share the Gospel, not the gossip!
The Gospel is the good news of Jesus Christ.
Gossip (per Oxford Dictionary): casual or unconstrained conversation or reports about other people, typically involving details that are not confirmed as being true.
In my journal this morning, I split the page in two and wrote down scriptures that talked about the Gospel and scriptures that talked about gossip!
Gospel:
That began a conversation in which Philip used the passage to explain the good news of Jesus. — Acts 8:35 Voice
Then Philip opened his mouth, and beginning with this Scripture he told him the good news about Jesus. — Acts 8:35 ESV
And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation. — Mark 16:15 ESV
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” — Acts 1:8 ESV
And I pray that as you share your faith with others it will grip their lives too, as they see the wealth of good things in you that come from Christ Jesus. — Philemon 1:6 TLB
And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” — Matthew 28:18-20
Gossip:
Let no foul or polluting language, nor evil word nor unwholesome or worthless talk [ever] come out of your mouth, but only such [speech] as is good and beneficial to the spiritual progress of others, as is fitting to the need and the occasion, that it may be a blessing and give grace (God’s favor) to those who hear it. — Ephesians 4:29 AMPC
A gossip tells everything, but a true friend will keep a secret. — Proverbs 11:13 CEV
Gossip is no good! It causes hard feelings and comes between friends. — Proverbs 16:28 CEV
Whoever spreads gossip betrays confidences; so don’t get involved with someone who talks too much. — Proverbs 20:19 ISV
Take care with the things you say. Don’t lie or spread gossip or talk about improper things. — Psalms 34:13 Voice
As I delved more into what Holy Spirit said to me, I found this article that talked about how we share the good news of Jesus. It’s really a conversation! That’s why it is so key for us to start the conversation with God every morning so that everything else we say throughout the day will be pleasing to him. We will BE THE GOSPEL in our character and in our speech.
The article noted that Jesus himself always adjusted the way He shared the gospel depending on who He was speaking to. He didn’t have a script. Jesus paid attention to what people needed the most. Jesus started the conversation about the good news He was offering at the point of people’s needs.
We all define good news differently based on what is going on in our lives, right? So as we go and share the good news about Jesus, we first must be good listeners. Sharing the good news of Jesus requires us to listen - both to the person in front of us and to the Holy Spirit!
Today, let’s be encouraged and let’s be obedient. Let’s start the conversation with God first. Then let’s share the Gospel of Jesus, and not be a gossip…Unless you gossiping about God!
Set a guard, O Lord, over my mouth; keep watch over the door of my lips! — Psalms 141:3 ESV

SALVATION PRAYER
If you don’t know Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior and you’re not a believer, but you have a desire to be, all you have to do is openly confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead (Romans 10:9). When you pray that prayer, you are saved. Get connected with a good, bible-based church in your community, stay connected to other believers, and start having daily conversations through prayer with God every single day. Welcome to your new life with Jesus Christ!!!
