Slow Down & Listen

I always feel like I am rushing. Even when I pray sometimes. My mind feels rushed. And as a person who has to work hard NOT to be late, I feel this quite a bit.
Well this morning, Holy Spirit said: Slow down and listen.
As I slowed down, I remembered a scripture that I have read from my book, Prayers That Rout Demons, which says: Lord, You awaken me morning by morning. You waken my ear to hear as the learned. That’s from Isaiah 50:4. Let’s look at a few other translations that really spoke to me this morning during my conversation with Holy Spirit.
The Almighty Lord will teach me what to say, so I will know how to encourage weary people. Morning after morning he will wake me to listen like a student. — Isaiah 50:4 GW (God’s Word Translation)
The Lord, the Eternal, equipped me for this job—with skilled speech, a smooth tongue for instruction. I can find the words that comfort and soothe the downtrodden, tired, and despairing. And I know when to use them. Each morning, it is God who wakes me and tells me what I should do, what I should say. — Isaiah 50:4 The Voice
As I read these different versions and allowed them to resonate, another scripture came to mind. I could remember anything but the part that says: be slow to________. I couldn’t even remember what it said be slow to. So of course I Googled it. It’s James 1:19 and I love the Message and NIRV translations of this verse.
Post this at all the intersections, dear friends: Lead with your ears, follow up with your tongue, and let anger straggle along in the rear. God’s righteousness doesn’t grow from human anger. So throw all spoiled virtue and cancerous evil in the garbage. In simple humility, let our gardener, God, landscape you with the Word, making a salvation-garden of your life. — James 1:19 MSG
My dear brothers and sisters, pay attention to what I say. Everyone should be quick to listen. But they should be slow to speak. They should be slow to get angry. — James 1:19 NIRV
Y’all if the Lord is telling me to slow down and listen…I am going to be obedient. I just heard Holy Spirit say this while writing: Slow down and listen, so you won’t miss it.
P.S. I just love my Conversations With God! Don’t you?

SALVATION PRAYER
If you don’t know Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior and you’re not a believer, but you have a desire to be, all you have to do is openly confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead (Romans 10:9). When you pray that prayer, you are saved. Get connected with a good, bible-based church in your community, stay connected to other believers, and start having daily conversations through prayer with God every single day. Welcome to your new life with Jesus Christ!!!
