One of the ways that has always got me to moving is knowing that someone was waiting on me. Whether it was someone waiting on me to pick them up, for them to pick me up, or someone was waiting to meet me for lunch or an any kind of appointment. But either way, knowing someone was waiting on me, always made me move a little quicker. Do I tend to run late in most situations? Yes, for whatever reason, I don’t always gauge my time very well. Now when I am intentional or there are severe consequences or repercussions , I always somehow seem to get there on time. Interesting right?
As I was praying this morning, I knew I was right where I was supposed to be. Did I get there right at 5 a.m., I can’t say that I did, but my alarm went off at 5 a.m. and my mind started heading into the mode of GET UP AND PRAY as praise and worship music was coming from my speakers. But I knew that the Holy Spirit was waiting on me, so I pressed my way. And the “someone is waiting on me” conversation went something like this:
Someone is waiting on your obedience.
Someone is waiting on your prayers.
Someone is waiting on your completion of the assignment I gave you.
Someone is waiting on the idea I gave you to actually come to fruition.
As I allowed those thoughts to settle into my mind, I realized that ultimately the someone is God. He is waiting on us so to be in position so that He can use us to carry out His will on earth. We are the hands and feet of Jesus on earth and He is waiting on us to be on our post, or in our purposed position, ready to be used by Him. Because when we are used by Him, He uses our obedience, our prayers, the assignments, and the ideas to move His Kingdom agenda forward; to move His plans forward. Now, whether we are in position to be used by not, His plans will still go forth. God will use someone else if we are not ready and willing. Sometimes we miss out on what God intended for us, because we weren’t in right position or alignment with Him. I love that God can restore and redeem though, when we DO get in alignment with His will for our lives. But just keeping it real, we all have missed out due to our disobedience.
One of the other subjects that me and the Holy Spirit had a conversation about was faith. And when I say conversation, it was more me focusing on faith and how I sometimes see my faith dwindle. I was reminded of the scripture in Matthew 8:26 where Jesus said, “You of little faith, why are you so afraid?” Then I heard: Faith Check, check your faith. Do you have more faith or more doubt in your thoughts? Doubt isn’t me in your thoughts.
During this faith talk, I begin to look up ways to grow in my faith and found what I consider a pretty solid article about it from Kenneth Copeland Ministries. I am going to just paraphrase what it said: We are to grow from faith to faith (Romans 1:17). To grow in faith, it means getting to know God more this week, than I did last week. That made me start thinking about my growth. Sometimes I feel like I am going backwards. But I had to be reminded that feelings don’t matter on this journey. Faith matters more than feelings. The article said when you read God’s word, don’t hesitate to believe it. If God said it, nothing else matters. I have to keep reminding myself of this. If God said it, I don’t care how I feel; what I see; or what I hear. If God said it, that settles it.
Growing in faith is hearing the Word of God, believing it, keeping His Word in front of you always; and then acting as though you believe it! See that part right there is where I want to really grow. It’s time for me to act as if I believe what God said. If God said to do this or do that, then remember that He is waiting on you and so are the people who will be impacted by what He has called and purposed you to do. Faith says you believe what He said and you’re doing it, no matter how you feel.
