Are you still in celebration mode? He got up and so did I this morning!! Now, yes, I was a bit sleepy after a full day of amazing sermons by some of my favorite pastors, plus the sheer excitement of what Resurrection Sunday represents for my faith (and yours). But even in my sleepiness, I knew that He got up for me, and when He touches me with His finger of love to wake up each morning, it is up to me to take the next step and give Him my first hour of the day!!
As I was having a conversation with the Holy Spirit (and yes, I asked Him to help me not fall asleep), I heard Him say this:
Don’t get caught up in the things I have already delivered you from.
There’s purpose in the waiting.
I am strengthening you, so don’t get worn out in the strengthening process.
Continue to wrap yourself up in Me.
Focus only on what I called YOU to. I called others to do other things.
Focus on your zone. Ensure YOUR zone is covered.
Your lane is your leverage. You can not leverage outside of your lane.
The Holy Spirit has spoken y’all and one thing that I have to make sure I do is not just listen and write down what He says, but to be obedient to what He says. Also if He says something that I am not sure about, I must keep the conversation going and ask Him to clarify.
I was talking to a good friend the other day and I was telling her that Holy Sprit is not tripping when we ask Him questions. She reminded me of something that many of us heard as kids, which was “don’t question God.” So when I was encouraging her to ask God for clarity on a matter in her life, that old saying came up. Has that ever happened to you? An old saying or religious tradition finds it way back into your thought process and causes you not to have to conversation with God about a thing that you’re not sure about?
One thing I have learned is that we can always go the Word of God for every single answer. Instead of relying on religion, we are to rely on our relationship with Holy Spirit. And the character of my Lord and Savior is not one where He’s like, “don’t ask me nothing else.” Like that doesn’t even sound like Him, does it? But the reality is, we can be confused on a thing or wondering how we should move and then that old saying will come up to block us from asking God. What if Eve had just had a conversation with God before she ate the fruit that He told she and Adam not to eat? Like when the devil came along to deceive her, what if she had just asked God to reiterate or repeat what He said? Matthew 6:33 says the most important thing we are to do first is seek His kingdom and His righteousness. Also in Matthew 7, verses 7-12 talks about asking, seeking, and knocking. So clearly it’s okay to ask God questions. He is our compassionate Father and He loves us so much. This I do know. He wants to have a conversation with us…all the time.
