The Way Fon Strong James

Welcome to the OABG Daily Blog and Podcast!

The Holy Spirit woke me up a 4 a.m. this morning. Instead of tossing and turning and trying to go back to sleep, I got up and went to the prayer closet. You see yesterday, I had told the Lord that when He wakes me up at that time, I am not going to stay in the bed and talk to Him, I am going to get up and talk to Him.

Here’s what He said to me this morning when I kept my word and met Him in the prayer closet:

  • Keep applying My Word to your life. There is no such thing as a one-time application. You are to keep reading my Word and keep applying it.

  • Sometimes life will require you to apply My Word with pressure…that means push into My Word even harder.

  • Test and trials will come, but fear not, I AM with you.

  • Keep your eyes on Me, the Teacher, your Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

  • Don’t be so adamant about a way that’t not MY WAY. Be adamant about doing life MY WAY ONLY!

i started to think about how we can be so adamant about certain things in our lives (from people to products to politics). For many of us, there are many things that we area dead set, resolute, determined, firm, unbending, stiff-necked, inflexible, unshakeable about. But God is saying, be that when it comes to doing life MY WAY. It makes me think about that scripture that says be steadfast, immovable. I had to Google it. That’s from 1 Corinthians 15:58:

Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, be steadfast, immovable, always excelling in the Lord’s work because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain. ~ Christian Standard Bible Translation

My dear brothers and sisters, stay firmly planted-be unshakeable- do many good works in the name of God, and know that all your labor is not for nothing when it is for God. ~ The Voice Translation.

This was very encouraging to me this morning. This is why I needed to get on up at 4 a.m. this morning so that the Lord could tell me to stay firmly planted and adamant about doing life HIS WAY.

And speaking of doing life His Way, as I read and studied Proverbs 2 for our Scriptural Bible Study this morning, I was like, this is sooo good, I want to just highlight all the verses!! LOL!! I mean you talk about the WISDOM gained from this one chapter is like, WHOA!

So without reading the whole chapter to you (because you should have read it yourself), the verses that really stood out were 6:

For the Lord gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding. Proverbs 2:6 CSB

The LORD is the one who gives wisdom. You can’t get wisdom no where else. How does that scripture shift your mindset? Dr. Evans said if you are not eager or spiritually hungry, ask God to give you a new spiritual appetite! That’s what happened to me. God gave me a new spiritual appetite. I long to spend more time with God. I long to learn more about God. I long to hear from God. My appetite has definitely changed from what I used to be eating on.

The other verses that were highlighted to me in Proverbs 2 was verses 7-8 and 20-21:

He stores up success for the upright; He is a shield for those who live with integrity so that He may guard the paths of justice and protect the way of his faithful followers. Proverbs 2:7-8 CSB

So follow the way of the good, and keep to the paths of the righteous. For the upright will inhabit the land, and those of integrity will remain in it. Proverbs 2:20-21 CSB

Y’all this whole chapter really needs to be meditated upon!! Like I am straight geeking out because this chapter is sooooo full of wisdom. Don’t you feel wiser after having read it? Imagine how you will feel if you keep applying it to your life like the Holy Spirit told me to do this morning?

Be encouraged to keep reading the Word of God and applying it (sometimes with pressure) to your life. We just read that God has success and land stored up for the upright and if we keep applying the Word and living in integrity, we will not only inhabit the land, we will remain in it! Woo hoo!! Now that’s some wisdom laced with encouragement to keep going THE WAY of the Lord!
