God’s Word

WHAT DID GOD SAY TO ME THIS MORNING

I want to first acknowledge my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. The Most High God. The One who woke me up this morning. The One that I communicate with every single day and throughout the day. Jesus Christ! The Son of God. The Holy Spirit. My Guide for my prayers every single morning. I thank you Jesus!

This life that I live now…one where I don’t sleep in anymore; one where I have made morning prayer part of my daily routine; one where talking to the Lord and then blogging our conversation is now my daily assignment; has completely changed my entire life. This place I am in right now in my life is where the Lord had been trying to get me all along. I continue to receive so much favor in my life being fully obedient. That was a word I heard in the prayer closet this morning too. FAVOR!

I am thankful for the favor from the Lord on my life. When I look back over my life, my latter days have definitely been better than my former days. But I recognize that those former days allow me to see how far I have come and how the Lord NEVER EVER left me, even when I was deep in sin. He was right there waiting for me to come back to Him.

I was having a conversation with a friend yesterday and was reminded of all the times that the Lord was trying to get my attention. Have you ever thought about that? It wasn’t that I was trying to think about it, I was just telling my friend a story about a situation and I noticed that I kept saying phrases like: “something just didn’t feel right; I just couldn’t let it go; something told me to just go check; I didn’t have no peace; I couldn’t pinpoint what it was, but something was off; my mind just wouldn’t rest.” These were the phrases that I kept using as I was explaining the story to my friend. What the Holy Spirit helped me to realize is, that what HIM the whole time trying to warn me, show me red flags, give me clues, reveal the strategy of the enemy, show me exits, get me out of the sticky situations, etc. So as I am telling my friend the story, I realized HOW MANY TIMES the Holy Spirit was there and HOW MANY TIMES He was trying to show me what I needed to see to move forward. He was there THE ENTIRE TIME. He had been with me in every single situation the entire time, but I wasn’t fully aware that’s WHO it was. The Word of God says in Deuteronomy 31:6,

So be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid and do not panic before them. For the Lord your God will personally go ahead of you. He will neither fail you nor abandon you. Deuteronomy 31:6 New Living Translation

In the Message Translation it says, “He won’t let you down; He won’t leave you.” This is exactly what the Holy Spirit was revealing to me as I was recounting a story to a friend. He has always been there for me and kept me. He was showing me things, but I refused to look at them and see what He wanted me to see.

This morning, in my conversation with the Holy Spirit He said THINK:

  • Think back to the last promise I fulfilled.

  • Think back to the last time you were obedient.

  • Think back to the last time things didn’t look like they were gonna work out, but they did.

  • Think.

  • Think back to all those times were I revealed things to you for your good.

Part of my assignment is to be an encourager. God gave me this assignment back in 2008 while sitting in my corporate job’s closet pumping breast milk for my first born. I was at work pumping milk in a very tiny closet and one day I took a notepad in the closet and began to write down what I knew about myself. What I didn’t know then, that I know now, is that I was doing exactly what I do every morning now…listening to God and writing down what He says. I thought I was just journaling, but in hindsight (which is 2020 vision), that’s what I was doing. I wrote down CEO and that stood for Chief Encouragement Officer. The Lord showed me in that tiny closet that He wired me to encourage people. I had written down on that notepad what people always said about me. They said I always encouraged or was kind. Y’all, I was even voted Most Courteous in high school. Again, God wired me for my purpose. I talked too much in school. Again, God wired me for my purpose. LOL!!

This morning, I want to encourage you to THINK. Think back and allow the Holy Spirit to reveal things to you. I also heard the Holy Spirit says this morning, “Put me in remembrance of my promises that I gave you.” That’s Isaiah 43:26 in part. He also said, put yourself in remembrance of where I have brought you from.

Take some time, grab a notebook, go into a closet, and just write down what you hear the Lord saying to you. Some of it may be you talking, but write down whatever you hear. The more you do this, the more you will know your voice verses God’s voice.

Today’s Scriptural Surprise came from 2 John. Again I can’t say enough about my new Tony Evans Study Bible. I was telling a friend that this bible has changed the game on my reading the Word of God. I’m not just reading the Word. I am now studying the Word of God, learning about the authors, getting insights from Dr. Tony Evans on what the scriptures mean, and then there are even videos that help you understand the scriptures even further. It’s definitely the best version of a Bible to have when you’re seeking the Kingdom of God! As I read this chapter, the question that came to mind was: What standard are you using to see how you measure up in life? Are you measuring your life by worldly standards or God’s standards? My prayer for you is that you are living your life according to the Word of God. What has the Lord been trying to reveal to you about your life, your career, your relationships, your body, your growth, your time, your _________ (fill in the blank)? THINK!

Thank you for being a reader of this blog. I appreciate each and every person who lays their eyes on these Holy Spirit inspired sentences and paragraphs. I pray that I have pleased My Lord and Savior in this writing.

Hearts & Hugs!
