This morning the Holy Spirit said don’t be deterred or distracted by what others around you do. Pursue me unapologetically! You just keep on pursuing me and seeking me first thing every day. And don’t apologize for pursuing me the way you do! Don’t shy away from it or dumb down what you do. Pursue my presence even more so that the people around you will come up. They will come up. They can’t help but to come up. You stay in my presence and I will handle the people around you!
Listen y’all, I know that was for me. Sometimes I admittedly shy away from talking about my pursuit of Jesus or I find myself trying to make others feel comfortable around me. The Holy Spirit was letting me know this morning that I don’t need to come off the gas for nobody, not family, not friends, not random people I encounter. And that was a word of correction for me, because I have always said I never wanted anyone to feel uncomfortable around me. But I heard the Lord and I am taking heed to what He said. I won’t back down. I will let Him handle the people.
And I love that He assured me that they will rise up. We all want to see our family and friends pursue a relationship with Holy Spirit, especially when you’re doing it and you know ALL THAT COMES WITH SEEKING JESUS FIRST! I mean my whole life has changed, but even I can’t force anyone to jump into. Each person has to WANT to pursue Jesus the way I do. They have to be soooo hungry for His presence and His word, that everything else that used to matter, simply doesn’t matter any more.
Do I get frustrated sometimes? YEP! I am just being honest with you. But I know that’s why the Holy Spirit had a sit-down conversation with me about it this morning. He doesn’t want me to focus on going back to get them, He wants me to keep pursuing Him and HE WILL get them. See, I can inspire you all day long. I can encourage you until I am blue in the face, but until you really want it for yourself, there is really nothing I can do, but I am the type of person who will try, and end up lowering myself to bring someone higher.
The Lord said, let me do it Fon. I see your heart and I know that you want to help them, but sometimes you have to cut people off for me to help them. Sometimes you have to just keep doing what you do, for me to help them. Sometimes they have to watch you from afar, for me to help them. Bottom-line: LET ME DO IT!
This morning, if you have been praying for your family or your friends to rise up to this SEEK-GOD-first-lifestyle, and they haven’t quite gotten there yet, be encouraged by Holy Spirit this morning to keep pursuing Him and He will handle them.
When the Holy Spirit said this to me, I got on my face in the prayer closet and just laid my body out in full surrender and called out every name that I had been carrying as a burden on my back, hoping to see change happen in their lives sooner than later. I laid them at the feet of Jesus. When I opened my Bible for the Scriptural Surprise, I landed in Psalms 72, but it was the Hope Words that settled me even more:
Hope is confident expectation that God is going to do what he says he will do. ~HOPE WORDS from Tony Evans Study Bible.
And with that being said…I will continue to unapologetically pursue my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Consider me officially “mashing” the gas pedal as we say in the South. It means pressing the gas pedal all the way down and taking off with speed towards Jesus. He chased me down when I was living in sin, and now I will daily chase after Him. Amen!
