What's In You?

Today I spent my prayer time reading a devotional. In that devotional, Understanding the Purpose and Power of Prayer by Dr. Myles Munroe, I learned quite a few things. I am almost done with this 11 day devotional, but today’s teaching really resonated with me and I wanted to share it with you because I believe God was speaking to me through this devotional this morning. Normally I don’t read devotionals during my prayer time, I usually pray and read my Word, but I love how the Holy Spirit prompts me. It’s when we follow those Holy Spirit nudges that we see what God wants us to see. This morning He wants me to see this:
How we were designed to function is found within God’s Word.
We were designed to function in alignment with God’s purposes.
You can’t fulfill your potential outside of God’s will. <<<<<—————- THIS PART!!! WOW!!!
Whatever we ask God to do in our lives, in the lives of others, or in the world MUST BE BASED ON HIS WILL.
It is through God’s Word that we can know His Will, believe His Will, and agree in faith with His Will.
God’s presence becomes a part of our prayers when we speak His Word in faith.
If we want the Word to work powerfully in our lives, we have to make sure the Word is inside of us.
To have His words abide (or remain) in us, we have to be reading and meditating on His Word regularly.
Faith is the result of dwelling in and on the Word of God.
When the Word of God is lived and practiced in our lives, it becomes power to us (practiced means we are constantly living it, not just sporadically at the beginning of the year or a few times a year when things get tough).
If you remain in Me and My Words remain in you, ask whatever you wish and it will be done for you. John 15:7 NIV
If you abide in Me, and My Words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. John 15:7 KJV
Jesus was saying if My Word is living on the inside of you, abiding in you, then you can ask for what’s living on the inside of you, and it will be done. That’s the power of the Word.
To abide in Jesus means to constantly flow in spiritual communion with Him. How can we do this? We can do this by:
By fellowshipping and worshipping Him.
By praying and fasting.
To abide in His Word means we are reading and meditating on it daily. You know the Word is in you when it directs your thoughts and actions.
Psalm 119 tells us that when we wholeheartedly embrace the Word, it will keep our lives in line with God’s will so that nothing will hinder us from walking in His Ways and receiving answers to our prayers.
Have you embraced the Word of God? Is it living on the inside of you? If not, it’s time to get rid of everything else and let the Word of God take up residence in you!
SALVATION PRAYER
If you don’t know Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior and you’re not a believer, but you have a desire to be, all you have to do is openly confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead (Romans 10:9). When you pray that prayer, you are saved. Get connected with a good, bible-based church in your community, stay connected to other believers, and start having daily conversations through prayer with God every single day. Welcome to your new life with Jesus Christ!!!
