Who Said You Could Do That?

Who Said You Could Do That?

New Living Translation

WHAT DID GOD SAY TO ME THIS MORNING

This morning I had straight up praise and worship in my prayer closet. I made up a whole song and I knew the presence of the Lord was in my closet because I felt like I was at church. My feet were the beat, and my raspy voice was the song. I wasn’t singing loud and that seemingly kept me on key because I didn’t notice if I was off-key or not, I was simply praising the Lord. When you surrender and give your all to the Lord, your praise is all good!

I don’t know if you have read the book, The 5 Love Languages by Gary Chapman, but I read it years ago and took the quiz to determine my love language. It’s Words of Affirmation. That’s my love language. I know I am loved when I am affirmed. Today, the Holy Spirit showed me love via my love language. How? My Scriptural Surprise! I opened the bible this morning to Lamentations 2. Now when I first opened it and started reading, the first thing I noticed was the heading of the chapter: God’s Anger At Sin. Now I am gonna be straight up honest, I was like…oh wow, based on the title, this won’t be one of those scripture readings where I get to feel all good. I decided to read it anyway and see what the Holy Spirit was gonna surprise me with. Chapter 2 showed me the anger of the Lord when we sin. Man, oh, man…it really made me realize how mad we make the Lord. I mean mad mad. This chapter in Lamentations talks about how angry the Lord was over Jerusalem because of their sins. Reading it made me thankful for salvation.

I kept reading because I just knew the Holy Spirit was going to reveal something else. Chapter 2 was soooo heavy, I was looking for the “But God,” verse, and I guess what? It was in Chapter 3. Note to self, always keep reading.

Apparently I had previously highlighted Lamentations 3:37 NLT, which says: “Can anything happen without the Lord’s permission? “

The Holy Spirit affirmed through my scriptural surprise the instructions He had given me concerning my book using the exact word from my book title (yes, I am working on a new book) Permission. I was like woooow, I love it when you do that Holy Spirit!! Then I kept reading Lamentations 3 and landed on verse 58 which says: “Lord you are my lawyer! Plead my case! For you have redeemed my life.” Now the words PLEAD MY CASE are straight from yesterday’s blog!!! Go check it out!!

Yall, I was just in awe of God. For me to open my bible randomly to a page for the scriptural surprise and see these two verses, was God speaking my love language. I heard myself say…I just LOVE when you do that God!

The last two things I want to mention that God said this morning are:

  • Create a summer reading plan for My Word.

  • You have your assignments…DO THEM!

I just LOVE when the Holy Spirit speaks to me, affirms me, and loves on me through the Word of God. Want to experience this kind of love? Pray, read the word, listen to the Holy Spirit, write down what you hear, be obedient, and watch how much LOVE you feel from God. It is the most amazing love ever felt.
