You Can't Do the Assignment Alone!

God’s Word

WHAT DID GOD SAY TO ME THIS MORNING

It’s two more days in this decade and I sort of felt the weight of that in the prayer closet this morning. I was praying and I felt myself beginning to cry. The weight of my assignment to wake up and pray daily, and write about it; the weight of my assignment to start a new business; the weight of the work that it will take to do what God is calling me to do; the weight of it all started to feel heavy. That’s when I heard the Lord say, “ Fon, I never meant for you to do any of this alone. You can’t do the assignments without Me.”

As I let what the Holy Spirit say sink in further and further, I realized that’s exactly how I had been living my life previously. That’s the whole premise of my book, Permission Slips (I wasn’t getting God’s permission in the past). As I move forward in my life, I am not to be the old me and just wing my assignments alone. I need God every single step of the way. Matter of fact, He showed me this morning with the heaviness that it is impossible for me to do it by myself. I am not capable. I am not that strong. If the assignments I have been given by God are to be done, then I must rely solely on Him to do them.

Instead of feeling the weight of the assignment, I must trust the WAY of the Lord. I must lay every burden or weight at His feet daily. He wants me to come to Him with it because He doesn’t want me out there trying to do it by myself. And to be honest, I don’t want to do anything alone anymore. There have been so many times in my life where I just did what I wanted to do, when I wanted to do it, and then dealt with the consequences later. Those days are over for me. The relationship I have with my Lord and Savior is a full partnership. He is always there for me. He will never leave me. I communicate with Him daily. He communicates back to me through His Word, and a still small voice. And on days like today where I felt overwhelmed, it was a physical and mental reminder that I don’t have to do any of it alone anymore. God is with me always.

As I am sitting here writing the blog, I recognize that the enemy wanted to defeat me this morning with overwhelming thoughts, and while the weapon of overwhelm did form, it certainly didn’t prosper (Isaiah 54:17). And I love how God used this weight to illustrate to me that I was never meant to do any thing He assigned me, without Him being involved all along the way.

Be encouraged this morning to know that if God said do it, He is with you all the way through it. But you have to make sure that you don’t leave Him out when you do it. Anything He has assigned us, we are to do it with Him…and that’s all by His design. He created the assignment so we can depend solely on Him to get it done.

  • You can’t do the assignment alone.

  • You don’t have the strength to do it alone.

  • I want you to depend on Me.

  • I don’t want you to just be ON assignment by God, I want to be God IN your assignment.

  • I had to allow the weight of it, so that you could see that you were never meant to carry it by yourself.

  • The assignment is for you to accomplish WITH ME.

  • If I am not IN it, you should’t be ON it.

Today, the Lord just wanted to remind me to always get His permission, stay on His assignment, and keep Him in it every step of the way. That’s the only way I can accomplish His agenda for the Kingdom.

The Scriptural Surprise today comes from Isaiah 12 and it’s a song of praise. Verse 2 and 5 are my favorite.

Indeed God is my salvation; I will trust him and not be afraid, for the Lord, the Lord himself, is my strength and my song. He has become my salvation. ~ Isaiah 12:2 CSB

Sing to the Lord, for he has done glorious things. ~ Isaiah 12:5 CSB

My daily conversations with God are so necessary to His agenda. And our whole point of being here on earth is for His glory. To God be the glory for the things He has done, and for the things He will do through my assignments (and yours).

Hearts & Hugs & Two Days of Great Expectations from Above!!

P.S. This song was really in my heart this morning in the prayer closet. I was trying to sing it because all I really want now is to please God with my life. That’s it. Nothing else matters.
