You Matter!

WHAT DID GOD SAY TO ME THIS MORNING

I remember working for a major insurance company while living in Houston, TX. I was working on a small team full of managers and I was the only subordinate in a cubicle. Everyone else on my team had an office. When I took the job, I was super excited because I thought I was “moving up” in my career. As time went on, I realized that I had moved into a stagnant position. There was no where for me to go in that role. And as much as I tried to move up, it didn’t happen.

But while I was in that role, I got to participate in a newly created committee called the What Matters group. It was designed for us to review sales and marketing operations and determine WHAT REALLY MATTERED to the success of the company! The group was full of people from all over the company, and had the blessing from the higher-ups. It was exciting to be apart of something outside of my normal day-to-day work and I felt appreciated more on that committee than I did with my regular job. Can you see how God kept me in what I perceived to be a stagnant role, so that I could have the opportunity to participate in this other group. I don’t know who this is for, but trust God’s plan, not yours. You may not see how it will work out right now, but fully trust God. He knows everything that will happen and He is positioning you right where you need to be in order for Him to get the glory in your life.

So I thought about the What Matters group this morning when I heard the Holy Spirit tell me I Mattered! Here’s what else He said:

• You matter!!

• Your work matters!

• Stay faithful!

• All that you’re doing matters!

• Keep trusting Me in all your matters!

One of the things we would do in the What Matters group is look at operational tasks and processes and determine if they really mattered to the overall outcome or results the company wanted to achieve. I believe the Holy Spirit really wanted me to know that this blog; my writing; my books; my leadership in the Clear Path to Publishing life group at my church; my positive and encouraging responses to friends and family; the YouTube videos and books that I share with people; my participation at prayer service, the praying moms group and all the other life groups I am in at church; the contractual marketing work I do, the random conversations I have with people, and the prayers I pray early in the morning…ALL MATTERS TO HIM!

This morning’s scriptural surprise was from 2 Thessalonians chapters 1-3. Yeah the whole book! LOL! In this book, Paul is writing to the church in Thessalonica to encourage them, to ask the church to pray for him, Silas and Timothy, and to remind them of what they had learned from them on how to live properly. Go read it!

As I was reading and meditating on this Word, I wrote in my journal:

Pray. Have good intentions. Be faithful in your actions. Spread the Lord’s message. The Lord will make me strong and guard me from the evil one.

The standout verses to me were in chapter 2, verses 16 and 17. My bible says it like this:

May our Lord Jesus Christ and God our Father, who loved us and in his special favor gave us everlasting comfort and good hope, 17 comfort your hearts and give you strength in every good thing you do and say.

That last line really resonated with me. The Lord will comfort my heart and give me strength in every good thing I do and say!!! What I do matters to the Lord! What YOU do matters to the Lord.

I also like 2 Thessalonians 3:3 which says: But the Lord is faithful; he will make you strong and guard you from the evil one.

What an encouraging word for us! We matter so much to the Lord, so don’t believe the lie of the enemy when he tries to make you think that who you are and what you do for the Lord doesn’t matter. IT MATTERS!! YOU MATTER!! WE MATTER!! We were created for a purpose as part of God’s perfect plan. So YES…we totally matter to Him and everything we do matters to the Kingdom of God!

Take a look at what you’re doing everyday. Ask yourself, am I doing what matters to God? If you’re not, then stop doing it and pray for God to show you what matters to Him. You matter to Him so much that He sent His son Jesus to die for your sins. You matter so much to Jesus that He came and lived on earth and experienced the most brutal death, because you mattered just that much! Jesus laid down His life so we could be free. Now we are free to do what really matters to God and His Kingdom!

My What Matters group at my old job created magnets, stickers, and promo items to help everyone remember to ask the question as they were working throughout their day, DO THIS REALLY MATTER? That group was designed to help the company focus only on What Mattered for success. As a blog reader, you are now apart of the On Assignment By God Blog, What Matters group!! I want you to focus only on What Matters to God for your life success! Will you agree to do that today? Look at every task and ask yourself, Does this matter to God and His Kingdom?

Alright, y’all, I pray this blog today has done exactly what God wanted it to do.

I’m headed to prayer service because…it matters to God and my life success!
