You’re Surprised, But God Isn’t

During prayer this morning, I heard Holy Spirit say: Nothing is a surprise to Me. Rest in that!
I went seeking scripture for what I heard and here’s the scripture that supports what I heard Holy Spirit say in our conversation this morning.
Your eyes saw me when I was formless; all my days were written in your book and planned before a single one of them began. — Psalms 139:16 CSB
You see all things; You saw me growing, changing in my mother’s womb; Every detail of my life was already written in Your book; You established the length of my life before I ever tasted the sweetness of it. — Psalms 139:16 The Voice
When Holy Spirit said to REST IN THAT, it made me realize how I don’t rest in that. See when things come up unexpectedly for us, we sometimes panic. We may even overreact, or be in shock. But if we can just rest in the knowledge and truth that God ALREADY KNEW whatever is happening to us was going to happen to us, then surely we can be confident in that knowing.
God sees the past, present and future all at once. Since God knows all my tomorrows already (meaning since He knows my tomorrows, today), then I should call unto Him and pray. His phone number is 333. That’s Jeremiah 33:3:
“This is God’s Message, the God who made earth, made it livable and lasting, known everywhere as God: ‘Call to me and I will answer you. I’ll tell you marvelous and wondrous things that you could never figure out on your own.’ — Jeremiah 33:3 MSG
Ask me and I will tell you some remarkable secrets about what is going to happen here. — Jeremiah 33:3 TLB
Ask me and I will tell you remarkable secrets you do not know about things to come. — Jeremiah 33:3 NLT
As I allowing this message from Holy Spirit to just sink in, I found this woman’s blog post about the death of her husband. One thing she said that really stuck out to me was that God only allows in your life what will most transform you into the likeness of His Son.
That was powerful to me. Often times, we be asking God why this had to happen or why did that have to happen, especially when it comes unknowingly or in the form of a “surprise.” But Holy Spirit wants us to be confident every day in knowing that no matter what comes our way, nothing is a surprise to God!
Let us be obedient and rest in that knowing!

SALVATION PRAYER
If you don’t know Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior and you’re not a believer, but you have a desire to be, all you have to do is openly confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead (Romans 10:9). When you pray that prayer, you are saved. Get connected with a good, bible-based church in your community, stay connected to other believers, and start having daily conversations through prayer with God every single day. Welcome to your new life with Jesus Christ!!!
