And the Credit Goes To...
WHAT DID GOD SAY TO ME THIS MORNING
In obedience, the On Assignment By God Blog, now has an audio feature where you can listen to this blog!! Thank you for your prayers as I continue to be obedient and do what God says! Happy Listening!!
This is awards season. You have the Oscars, the Grammys, the Image Awards, etc. I can’t even remember all of them. I just know this is award season. When the announcer shares who the winner is, they always say, and the award for _________ (fill in the blank) goes to _____________ (insert winner name here).
What if we did an award ceremony this morning on the blog and I was giving out awards for prayer consistency. What if I gave an award for seeking God daily? Or how about an award for giving the Lord all the praise for His many blessings upon your life? Would you win an award today? Would you even be in the nominations?
This morning as I was reading 1 Chronicles 11 for the Scriptural Surprise, it was focused on David’s anointing as King. David had some mighty men and they were victorious in battle. Not because they were so strong (even though they were), but as verse 14 states it: The Lord gave them a great victory. We can see that David had an anointing on His life and so did his mighty men! What about you? Are you winning in life because the Lord gave you the victory? Are you giving the Lord credit for all of your victories in life? Or are you taking the credit because of your smarts, your education, your experience, your network, your family name, your hook-up, your good looks, or your church affiliation? I know for me, while I do have all those things: smarts, education, experience, a network, good looks, a STRONG family name, and an amazing church; if it had not been for the Lord on my side, I wouldn’t even have THOSE things. I wouldn’t even have an education, be smart, have experience, a network, an amazing church, or a beautiful heart because inner beauty is way better than outer beauty. How you treat people is way more beautiful that a cute or handsome face. But I wouldn’t have any of that without the Lord!
This morning went a little different for me because I have a new morning time responsibility. I am leading a group of over 30 women in a 1 Hour Prayer Challenge life group at my church. I kept waking up last night because I wanted to make sure I didn’t oversleep. I wanted to make sure I was ready to lead. I was nervous of course because this my first time leading this group on this prayer journey and I want to make sure I please God in every part of it. But as I got up to pray at 5 a.m. I heard the Holy Spirit speak to me. He said:
Rest in My leadership.
Wait on Me to show you My Way.
Don’t get too hasty and anxious.
Don’t get ahead of Me when you don’t hear from Me.
Get even more still.
I am building your focus muscles through distractions.
The distractions that you are facing are not designed to destroy you, but to help you learn how to focus on Me even quicker!
Distractions will always be around.
Your assignment is to decrease the amount of time they distract you.
Redirect to Me…quicker!
That’s the purpose. That’s why the distractions keep coming.
You’re in a mode of focus mastery.
I am moving you higher and your ability to focus has to be on an even higher level.
Practice on the redirect back to Me!
Since the new year started, I have dealt with many distractions. At first, I couldn’t even understand why I kept getting distracted. I even blamed the devil for distracting me. I was complaining too: why is this situation distracting me so much? why I am constantly allowing this situation to throw me off? why am I so distracted? UGH!
I tried to refocus, but the more I tried to refocus, the more I actually thought about it. Crazy huh? I was like, Lord, why do I keep dealing with this? And the even crazier part about it was, I was being distracted by something that didn’t even make sense. Eventually I just started praying for peace about it. Then I noticed that every time I got focused back on Jesus, the distraction wouldn’t have such a stronghold on me. And after this conversation with Holy Spirit this morning, it’s even more clear that the Lord is wanting me to go higher and my ability to focus is being WORKED ON. I am in focus training so to speak. So in order to ensure that I CAN focus, distractions MUST COME. So the Lord is allowing the distraction so that He can get the glory. The enemy may have tried to use the distractions to knock me off course, but the Lord says, I am going to get the glory by using what the enemy meant for evil and turning it around for her good! She will get STRONGER in her ability to focus on Me!
The only reason I am able to share this revelation conversation with you is because of my prayer time with the Holy Spirit this morning! See if I wasn’t seeking God first in the morning, I could have allowed the distractions to irritate me. I could have allowed the distractions to be the focus verses the focus being on Jesus and Him growing me up spiritually to redirect back to Him quicker! Instead of it taking days for me to redirect back to Jesus, it now takes hours. And eventually it will be minutes, then it will turn into seconds. The Lord said, distractions will always be, but the key is how quickly you can refocus on ME! Who wants to shout with me on that!! Isn’t that good y’all?
Not everything is meant to destroy you that you’re going through. The enemy may have meant it that way, but because you are God’s child, it just ain’t going down like that. We already have the victory through Jesus Christ for every distraction, every battle, every situation that seems to want to bring us down.
And the credit for the victory in every distraction, every battle, every situation goes to….
Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!
