MY CONVERSATIONS WITH GOD

Welcome to the OABG Daily Blog and Podcast!

How can we do a better job at living this Christian life? Seek God first and then read His Word daily. I am learning so much wisdom through the study of Proverbs because scripture actually equips us to live the Christian life. It’s no wonder that reading, studying, and applying the word of God seems so elusive to many of us. I know for me, it took baby steps to get to where I am today, studying the word on a daily basis. One of my main goals though is not just to read and study it, but to actually apply it to my life. To live out the principles I learn in scripture.

Today, let’s take a look at some of the scriptures in Proverbs 22 from the Scriptural Bible Study to see which ones resonated with both of us; so we can remember them and keep them on our lips constantly:

  1. The rich and the poor have this in common: They Lord makes them all. We are all made by the Lord so that’s why we shouldn’t frown our nose at the rich or the poor. We are all God’s people.

  2. Being humble comes from having respect for the Lord. Humility and the fear of the Lord, results in wealth, honor, and life.

  3. We must start our children off on the right path so that even when they get older, they will not turn away from it. I thank God for my parents starting me on the right path. And I am not just talking about church attendance. My parents taught me not to lie or steal and to treat people fairly. They also taught me how to help and serve others. Those lessons are still with me today.

  4. The rich rule over the poor and borrowers are slaves to the lenders. Y’all, we got to change our mindset around money. I am reading this new book by Craig Hill entitled, Five Wealth Secrets 96% of Us Don’t Know and I am only on chapter 2 and my whole mindset has shifted. We must learn sound financial principles and put them into practice immediately. And we must also teach them to our children, family members, and friends. We got to live within our means and stop creating all this debt. We protest about injustice but we do ourselves an injustice when we become slaves to the lenders!

  5. You reap what you sow. If you plant tomatoes, you won’t get cucumbers. If you sow generously, you will reap a blessing. If you sow injustice, you will reap a disaster. And yes it is a disaster when the people you owe start calling you because you can’t make a payment for something that you said you could make a payment for.

  6. Don’t be a slacker. Slackers make excuses to avoid working. I know I have been a slacker before and that’s just not a great representation of my Lord and Savior.

  7. Children will do foolish things, but correcting them will drive that foolishness far away. We can’t just ignore our kids being foolish, otherwise we will leave it up to society to correct them through police and government. Take care of your kids. Put your attention on them now as youths.

  8. Oppressing the poor to make yourself rich or giving to the rich both leads to poverty. Give to those who need it, not those who don’t. Seems simple, but look at your bank card and see who you support or give to on a regular basis. Are you mostly giving to those who really need it?

  9. A transformed mind comes through study and application of the word of God.

  10. As disciples of Jesus Christ, we must have regular interaction with the Word of God, as regular as we eat food.

  11. As Christians we should be known as those who work with excellence at whatever we do, not as those who do just enough to get by.

The end of Proverbs 22 begins with six of the 30 Sayings of Wise People in verses 17-29. I say we write them down and keep them close to us. We should all be able to look at ourselves in the mirror today and see a wiser woman or a wiser man! Amen!

SALVATION PRAYER

If you’re not a believer and have a desire to be, openly confess and declare with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead (Romans 10:9). When you pray that prayer out loud, you are saved. Get connected with a good, bible-based church in your community and start having a conversation through prayer with God every day. And let me be the first to welcome you to your new life with Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. YAAAAY!!!!! You made the best decision you could ever make! Feel free to email me at info@onassignmentbyGod.com and let me know about your newfound life or if you need prayer for anything.
