Discernment!

WHAT DID GOD SAY TO ME THIS MORNING

Happy Saturday Morning to you!

I pray that you’ve gotten up this morning to pray and spend time with the Lord. I truly believe that spending time with the Lord daily has helped my spiritual discernment get stronger and stronger. Plus I pray for the Holy Spirit to show me things, expose things to me, and reveal things to me that are of God, and those things that are not of God. I used to call this my gut or intuition, but when you add prayer and the power of the Holy Spirit to intuition, you get spiritual discernment. A discerning spirit can help you navigate through life, with the Holy Spirit being your ultimate guide. I am thankful for it and I pray that I can always use it for His glory.

This morning as I was praying, I heard the Holy Spirit say this:

Allow me to take the draft version of your plan and match it up with My original plan for your life.
Be careful who you listen to. Not everyone is submitting their draft versions to Me for My edits and final approval.
Celebrities are human. Don’t put them on a pedestal.
Use your spiritual discernment.
Come to Me with anything you’re curious about or wondering about.
Don’t just assume people who teach or preach about me are ALL the way for Me or are ALL the way listening to Me.
I gave you a discerning spirit, so use it.
Don’t rely on anyone else’s word, but Mine.
Read your bible, pray, and listen to Me. I am able to speak to you directly.

This morning I prayed for a lot of things, but one of them that stood out was for us to not get caught up in solely relying on or only listening to those on social media or even at church. We must have a relationship with the Holy Spirit for ourselves. I am not saying don’t listen to preachers and teachers. I am saying also have your own relationship with God because He can certainly speak to you directly. This blog is proof of that!

The scriptural surprise today came from 1 Timothy 6. Paul is writing to Timothy and encouraging him to teach the truth. He also mentions that while there are false teachers, he should rely on the sound, wholesome teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ.

That’s what we have to do. Rely on the sound, wholesome teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ. In order to know what is sound and wholesome, we must connect with the Lord Jesus Christ through a sound and wholesome relationship (i.e. prayer). We must read the bible to get a sound and wholesome Word from Jesus Christ.

This chapter in 1 Timothy also talks about the love of money being the root of all kinds of evil and that some people who crave money have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows. Be encouraged to pursue the desires of God’s heart, not your own. I prayed this morning for God’s desires for me to be my desires for me. Instead of just focusing on what I think I want, I’d rather want and have what God wants me to have because I know it’s way better, way higher, way more, than I can even think!

As you move about your Saturday, pray and ask God for discernment; and if you’re really bold, ask God to give you the desires of HIS heart.

If you’re not a believer and have a desire to be, openly confess and declare with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead (Romans 10:9).
