Whose report will you believe?
As I was praying this morning and get ready to head out of town early this morning, I glanced into the mirror and saw my TV. It was muted but the news was on and it was giving a report. I don’t really even know what it was reporting. I had fallen asleep with my TV on last night and during the night, sleepily pressed mute and dozed back off, so it was still on when I got up to praise and worship music. That’s a word right there for me this morning. Regardless of what is being said on the news, I am going to praise and worship the Lord!
It was when I noticed the TV that the Holy Spirit said: Whose report will you believe? Then if any doubt was gonna try to creep in, I heard the Holy Spirit say: BUT what did “I” say?” You speak what I said, not what you see on TV or hear in these streets from non believers.
I looked up the word believe. It means to accept something as true; trust; have confidence in; and be convinced by. It is also a verb! That means it’s actionable. As believers in Jesus Christ, that means we believe He died on the cross for our sins and rose again on the 3rd day with all power in his hands and He is seated at the right hand of the Father. We believe that by His stripes, we were already healed.
Believe. Do you really believe in your heart or do you just believe with your mouth? There is big difference in saying you believe and actually believing. Your actions always reveal your heart.
Before I opened my Bible to the Scriptural Surprise this morning, I said Lord show me what you want me to see today and what you want me to share today. I flipped it open to Luke 8! Okay if you haven’t studied Luke 8, then today is your day! It is choked full God’s Word! From learning about the women who supported Jesus, to the parable of the sower, to using your light to draw others to Jesus, to what true relationships; how the wind and waves obey Jesus, and even how Jesus drove demons out of a man, restored a 12 year old girl who many thought had died, and healed a woman with a 12 year blood issue! I am telling you…go read Luke 8!
The verse that stood out in Luke 8 that was right in alignment to what I heard the Holy Spirit say was Luke 8:50:
When Jesus heard it, he answered him, “Don’t be afraid. Only believe, and she will be saved.”
Today, are you going to believe the news reports, the doctor’s report, the teacher’s report, the government’s report or are you going to believe God’s Word? Are you going to believe the report of the Lord? Read His Word to grow your faith. When you believe, only THEN will you receive, everything God has for you!
