"I Got Time"...Says the Lord!

Has the Holy Spirit ever slowed you down? I’m talking about where you heard Him say, uhmmmm, slow down, you trying to go too fast.” I believe the Holy Spirit has slowed many of us down from our fast-paced lifestyle in these last few weeks, as so many of us are under shelter-in-place orders. Most of our days have slowed down to a complete crawl and some of us are enjoying it and some of us are going stir crazy. But it all boils down to how we are spending our time these days.
My morning went quite different and as I begin listening to the Lord after praying, I knew why. Here’s the Holy Spirit said to me this morning:
Slow down and spend time with me. Don’t be in such a hurry! (y’all that was the first thing He said to meeeeee!! Clearly I was trying to rush through my prayers this morning).
Urgency comes when being obedient to My Word. Don’t be so urgent when you’re spending time with me.
Take a load off with Me.
Release the stress and worry with Me.
Cast all your cares upon Me.
Take deep breaths with Me.
I care about ALL of it, so let’s talk. You talk. I talk.
Leave all the burdens with Me.
Don’t walk away from our conversation carrying the burdens that we’ve already talked about.
Once I’ve checked your burdens and cares into MY Holy inventory, you can’t check them back out.
The burden is not for you to carry.
Bring it ALL to Me!
As the Holy Spirit was saying this, I was doing just what He said do. I was definitely taking the deep breaths and relaxing in His presence. Isn’t it interesting how we can even get into a rush with our Lord and Savior? Like who wouldn’t want to just soak in His presence all day? I had to be reminded of what those times felt like because routine had somehow flashed my memory of it. If you haven’t soaked in His presence, then this message is definitely for you!
So of course y’all know my mind always sees a metaphor or movie or song reference right? When the Holy Spirit said don’t be in a such a hurry with me, I thought about the doctor’s office. Y’all know when we go to the doctor office, you be feeling like they are rushing you? Be honest with me now. I know I be feeling some kinda way when I sit there and pop from waiting room to waiting room to waiting IN the actual room, and then they come in there and give me 5 minutes or less of service. I be asking questions that I already know the answers to just to keep them in there longer. YOU GONNA SPEND MORE TIME WITH ME after all this waiting I have done. What if that’s how the Holy Spirit feels with us?? YIKES! I think my pigeoned-toed self just stepped on my own toes! LOL!
Holy Spirit is saying I been waiting on you and then you want to come in here and pray a quick pray, even in tongues, or even set a time limit of an hour, and then be out? The 1 hour prayer challenge was just to build up your prayer muscles, not for you to put a 1 hour time limit on ME! Okay okay okay, Holy Spirit. I got you! Y’all He still getting on me right now! Or maybe He getting on you! I don’t know. Either way, I think we better both be listening. Okay!
Bottom line (because y’all know I like to bottom line the message): Don’t be in a rush with Holy Spirit. Let Him take control of your time. He knows how much time you got, so you can’t be fooling Him like you fool everybody else with your busyness! MY GOD!! Holy Spirit going IN IN today ain’t it y’all! I’m just the vessel. Matter of fact, I DID verbally say to Him this morning…you write this blog today!!! WOW!! Okay!
Our Lord and Savior is the Great Physician. He said, “I got all the time you need. Just sit with Me.”
