Mimic the Model of the Master.
WHAT DID MY LORD GOD SAY TO ME THIS MORNING?
My Daily Conversations With God
Today is Memorial Day. A day where we remember those Americans who died while serving in the United States military. As I was praying for those families who have lost loved ones, my Scriptural Surprise led me to 1 Thessalonians, chapters 3 and 4. And how appropriate it was to turn to this scripture on TODAY where Paul is reminding the people that if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, death is no more permanent or harmful than sleep. Dr. Tony Evans expounds in the study notes by saying, for the Christian, death is not the end. It is the beginning of a brand new life. Christian loved ones who pass away remain alive in heaven with Jesus.
I was like…Wow, Holy Spirit, that is right on time for today for military families who have lost loved ones. But it also serves as encouragement and a reminder for any Christian who has lost a family member.
As I as prayed this morning before I flipped open my Bible, I heard the Holy Spirit say:
I AM the Model.
Look at how I did it.
Study how I did it.
You do life that way.
I AM the way!
GREAT is my faithfulness to you Fon.
I love the Lord my God so much because He is faithful to me, no matter what I do on my end!!! I am thankful that I am obedient now, but I wasn’t always. And when I just think about how faithful He STILL was to me even back then, I just get emotional and want to run and shout. HE IS SO FAITHFUL.
The Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one. 2 Thessalonians 3:3
Speaking of faith, as I was reading in the study notes, Dr. Tony Evans said: the devil seeks to tempt God’s children and destroy their faith! But when you look at how faithful the Lord has been to you, it should make you think twice before you just let the enemy come in and destroy your faith. God is faithful and everything that He promised will happen. So keep the faith! No matter what Jesus faced while on the earth, He trusted God and knew the purpose for this whole existence. I believe that’s what the Holy Spirit was saying to me this morning; that our posture should always be to mimic the model of the Master…our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
How do we mimic the Master? By studying His every move. By studying His character. By studying His ways.
For you have been called for this purpose, since Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example for you to follow in His steps. ~ 1 Peter 2:21 NASB
Today, let’s be encouraged to model the Master. Let’s be encouraged to be obedient to the commands of God. Let’s be obedient and do what we already know to do.
Encouragement. That’s a word that the Holy Spirit gave me a long time ago. It was in 2008 and I had just returned to work after having my first child, my daughter Em. I remember journaling in a closet at work as I was pumping milk for her. I didn’t even realize then that I was hearing God. But He said, you’re the CEO. But the ‘E’ didn’t stand for executive. It stood for Encouragement.
As I was reading in my Word today, I read this in the study notes:
When God wants to encourage a believer, He uses His Holy Spirit to do it, but He often does that through another believer.
I pray that I have encouraged YOU today to model the Master, Jesus Christ; to trust Him knowing that He is faithful; and to be obedient and let nothing destroy your faith. If we are modeling the Master, then we can most certainly model and mimic His faithfulness.
