On Assignment
WHAT DID GOD SAY TO ME THIS MORNING
This morning when I got up to pray, I had just finished a dream where I was rushing because I wanted to be somewhere at a certain time. In the dream, I was a tad upset that I had not done what I was supposed to do or left for where I was supposed to go on time. Has that ever happened to you? You set a time to do something and find yourself frustrated because you caused yourself not to move in a timely fashion? It messes up your whole mood or at least it tries to.
As I was praying this morning, I kept thinking about a thought that has been coming to me very often actually. It’s the thought that if everyone can be where God called them to be, then His agenda for the earth can go forth and be accomplished. Each one of us is here for God and if we can get our minds wrapped around that, verses focusing on our wants, then what kind of world would we live in?
Think about places opening up on time so that you can do business with them. For instance if you drink coffee or didn’t make breakfast this morning and you want to grab something on your way to your destination. What if the owner or manager of the place you really wanted to patron, woke up super late and wasn’t even ready to serve you when you arrived? You would be wondering why they weren’t on their job! There are so many instances where we would get upset if our expectations weren’t met for just every day life, like a cup of coffee! I believe that’s how the Lord feels when we don’t meet His expectations in our every day lives.
Imagine how crazy things are in the world when their is no order. Remember times where protests and lawlessness briefly took over certain parts of the world and how everyone was all over the place just doing any old thing? No one was where they were supposed to be, because they were just running crazy and looting. Remember those times? Can you reflect on a time in your life where you were reckless and just running around doing your own thing? Not following God’s laws or focused on His assignments?
This morning’s conversation with God was about that very thought! Being on His assignment. In the Scriptural Surprise, I read Ezekiel 4 and guess what word stuck out? Assigned!! Verse 5 says, “For I have assigned you the years of their iniquity according to the number of days you lie down, 390 days; so you will bear the iniquity of the house of Israel.”
You can get your Tony Evans Study Bible to read more on this assignment by God to the prophet Ezekiel. But I want you to read it and note the specificity of it. That’s really what I took notice of as I was reading. When God gives us an assignment, it is specific, purposeful, and requires our full obedience for His will to be carried out on earth.
What has God assigned you to do today? Don’t even overwhelm yourself with your life assignment. Just focus on what He wants you to do specifically today. If we all can be On Assignment by God every day of our lives, oh what an orderly and obedient place we would be living in!
Pray. Listen. Write What You Hear. Talk to God. Obey. Get On Assignment by God!
This is our daily assignment to being the hands and feet of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on earth. As we get closer and closer to celebrating the birth of Jesus, think about all the people who were on assignment for His arrival. What if they had not all been where God has called them? You are THAT important to God too! Your birth also has purpose and it’s important for all of us to be at our God-assigned post!
Be encouraged this Monday morning to focus on your God assignment today.
