Purposefully Here to Serve!

WHAT DID MY LORD GOD SAY TO ME THIS MORNING?

My Daily Conversations With God

I was reading Luke 4 this morning where it talks about the temptation of Jesus.

Satan spoke 3 temptations.

Jesus quoted 3 passages of scripture.

All of Satan’s temptations were to get Jesus to act independently of God, but what’s notable is that Satan was tempting Jesus’s human need, which was hunger because he had been fasting for 40 days.

The message that I got this morning was I need to know my weaknesses and vulnerabilities so that I can match them up with scripture!!

If Satan had been watching Jesus to see where he was vulnerable , you already know he is watching us to see where we are vulnerable.

We are to be like our Lord and Savior. We must be ready to use scripture correctly to send satan packing because he can’t handle proper use of scripture! When used correctly, their is authority in the Word of God.

So we must first identify our weaknesses and vulnerabilities, then get into the Word or God to locate our specific scriptural weapons! Sharpen your swords…, which means get into the word of God!

After the devil has finished every temptation, he DEPARTED from him for a time. Luke 4:13 CSB

Luke chapter 4 is chocked full of knowledge for us to grab a hold of and study. In verses 38-39, Jesus healed Simon’s (whom we know as the Apostle Peter) mother-in-law. She had been suffering a high fever and Jesus stood over her and rebuked the fever and it left her. SHE GOT UP IMMEDIATELY AND BEGAN TO SERVE THEM.

The Holy Spirit showed me that:

  • A blessing from Him allows me to serve Him more.

  • A blessing from Him allows me more time for Him.

That means if I am out here saying the Lord blessed me, healed me, etc., then I should be saying that WHILST I am serving Him even more. That means if you were to review my time and see how I spent my day, most of it should be WITH HIM.

It makes me think about how we say the Lord blessed us with cars, houses, money, jobs, etc., but if the Lord did it, that means even more of Him should be seen in your life! A job or business that takes you away from serving Him probably wasn’t given to you BY HIM!!! (eek, I know that stepped on some toes). A car note that causes you to have spend more time at work to pay for it, probably wasn’t a blessing from the Lord. A beautiful house on the outside full of all kinds of division, hell, and might I add no prayer closet, probably wasn’t a blessing from the Lord.

The Word of God says in Joshua 24:15 says: “As for Me and My House, We will serve the Lord.”

God wouldn’t bless you with anything that keeps you from SERVING HIM. That’s your measuring rod. Will this keep me from serving God?

And let’s free ourselves from the guilt of past times where we have said things were a blessing from God and now we realize that they really weren’t. It’s okay if we missed it in the past, but now we know better, so we can do better.

And finally, in Luke 4:43, Jesus had been healing and casting out demons, but then it was time for him to go and the crowd was trying to keep him from leaving. In verse 43, it says: But he said to them, “It is NECESSARY for me to proclaim the good news about the kingdom of God to the other towns also, because I was sent for this purpose.”

This morning, it is so imperative right now for us to proclaim the good news about the Kingdom of God to others. We were all sent here on earth for this purpose. There are many ways that we will carry out that one purpose because God uniquely crafted us with gifts and talents to do so. But like Jesus, don’t let the crowd try to keep YOU from moving and doing what is NECESSARY for your purpose.

Read the Word of God. Identify your weaknesses. Locate scriptures that match up with your weaknesses. Tell satan the scriptures when he comes (and know that he is coming). Heal the sick. Cast out demons. Share the the Good News about the kingdom of God. And SERVE the Lord your God only.

You are purposefully here to serve the kingdom of God.

And Jesus answered him, It is written: Worship the Lord your God, and serve Him only.” Luke 4:8 CSB
