It’s Monday! Now normally I am super sleepy on Monday and it takes a minute to get moving but… not this morning. My default was to be sleepy, and I even considered getting back in the bed for a quick nap before doing this blog and podcast, but I heard the Lord say, get your assignment done Fon. LOL! So I went and brewed a cup of coffee and here we are!

So what did the Lord God say to me this morning?

  • ReStart

  • Start Again

  • It’s okay to begin anew.

  • I give new mercies every morning.

  • I love when you commit and start.

  • I’m not counting how many times you have restarted.

  • I can help you be consistent.

  • Be consistent with Me first thing in the morning, and I will help you be consistent with everything else.

  • I see your heart’s desire to change your ways and be consistent.

  • Don’t look at what other people have because if I didn’t give it to them, it won’t last.

  • What I give to you lasts forever.

  • I love when you take action on what I have said for you to do. Keep doing that!

  • I am the only one you need to compare yourself to.

When I tell y’all I needed every bit of this conversation with the Lord this morning! I mean seriously. I needed every single word. And of course He knew that, but I just wanted to acknowledge it here on the blog/podcast.

One of the things that I have done since I was a kid is compare. Not so much in a negative way, but in a positive way. Like for instance, at a theme park like Six Flags, I would say, well if that person that is smaller than me is courageous enough to ride this roller coaster, surely, I can ride it. My comparison trait was more like, if they can do it, then I can too. It was never really one of those comparing what they had to what I had. I thank God that’s not a thing for me because I have always felt like I was set apart so I never really compared myself that way. Growing up being a natural red-head sorta set that belief system in motion. Ok! LOL! Because I literally was different in almost every setting I ever went into.

But back to the part that I do sort of struggle with and that’s, “if they can do it, so can I.” I believe the Lord is saying, you don’t need to be comparing yourself to anyone BUT ME because you don’t know HOW they are doing it and I don’t want you doing it like them, especially if I am not leading them. I don’t want you to learn from anybody but Me and those you know full well I am leading. And I totally get that. God wants me totally DEPENDENT on Him for every area of my life. I know He will send me people to be inspired by, but He doesn’t want me getting caught up in them so much that I neglect Him. And I know reading my Word daily will help me get to know Him more.

One other thing that really stood out to me in our conversation this morning is our talk about consistency. I have been being consistent with my prayer time, blogging, podcasting, etc., every morning, but there are some areas in my life where that level of consistency hasn’t spilled over. There is some consistency in those areas, but not at the level of my non-negotiable time with God in the morning. The Lord is again saying to be DEPENDENT on Him for consistency in those areas too. I hear you loud and clear Lord.

I don’t know about you, but I really needed this conversation with the Lord this morning. I needed to be reminded: it’s okay to restart because He gives me new mercies every morning to start with; to depend on Him to be consistent in all areas of my life; not to compare myself to anyone but Him because He is the standard; and that He loves when I take action on what He tells me to do.

Y’all I want nothing more than to please my Father God each and every day.

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. Lamentations 3:22-23

I am so thankful for a faithful Father!
