WHAT DID GOD SAY TO ME THIS MORNING

Has God been blowing your mind? If you answered YES, then you know exactly how I feel! If you answered No, then I know exactly how you feel. Wait, how can I empathize with both, you may ask? There is a clear distinction when my life changed and God began to blow my mind. It all started with my morning routine of consistent prayer time with God. I knew what it felt like to be blessed by God but this mind blowing stuff, I had no clue about…until I started praying consistently every single morning. I want to encourage you this morning. There are 47 days left in 2019. What if you started praying consistently for the next 47 days? How different would this decade end for you? I encourage you to not just consider it, but to do it.

Here’s the model:

- Set an alarm to wake up before you normally wake up. I wake up at 5 a.m.

- Get out of the bed and go to a quiet place. I use my bedroom closet.

- Take a notepad, pen, and your Bible.

- Get on your knees. I use a pillow because my floor is not carpeted.

- To start off, use the ACTS prayer: Acknowledge the Lord for who He is. Confess your sins and repent. Thank Him for everything. Submit your requests to Him. This is just a way to start. You will grow as you go.

- Listen to the still small voice of the Holy Spirit.

- Write down what you hear Him say. Don’t get caught up in second guessing what you heard. Just write down what you hear. Once you finish hearing, stop writing.

- Say out loud: “Lord give me a Word from you.” Then flip open your Bible for what I call the Scriptural Surprise and read whatever is on the page OUT LOUD. Look for the Word or verses that STANDS OUT and write it down (you will want to use your Bible app later to read a different translation from the one in your Bible. But don’t bring your phone in your prayer space. (Side note: If your Bible is not easy to read, get another one that you can easily understand).

- Thank God for His Word.

- Listen again to see if there is anything else you hear from the Holy Spirit. Write down what you hear.

- Smile and thank God for the time y’all spent together.

By starting with this simple routine, your life will change. Having an intimate relationship with my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ has truly changed my life and allowed me to trust God in EVERYthing and worry about nothing!

This morning the Holy Spirit told me to be the pen of a ready writer. I knew I had heard this before but I didn’t know where. So of course I Googled it and found that it is said in Psalms 45:1. It actually says: “Beautiful words stir my heart. I will recite a lovely poem about the king, for my tongue is like the pen of a skillful writer.”

The Holy Spirit also said this to me:

• Don’t ever get too busy where you can’t take time with your father. (I took this to mean my earthly father and my heavenly father).

• Don’t take people or experiences for granted.

• Trust me.

• Don’t waste your time with tasks I never assigned you.

• Follow my specific instructions for everything.

My Scriptural Surprise today was Matthew 9 and 10. Three verses really stood out to me. These are from my New Living Translation Bible:

Matthew 10: 19-20 ~When you are arrested, don’t worry about what to say in your defense, because you will be given the right words at the right time. For it won’t be you doing the talking - it will be the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.

Matthew 10:39 ~ If you cling to your life, you will lose it, but if you give it up for me, you will find it.

When I write this blog, all I want to do is please God by being a willing vessel that He can use. I don’t want to be doing the talking. I trust Him to give me the right words as the right time. Knowing that I have given my life up for Him allows me to trust Him in everything. And by doing all of this…He has continued to blow my mind!!!

I encourage you to TRUST HIM with your whole life. That means trust Him with your spouse, children, relationships, friendships, careers, work, spiritual growth, health, wealth, and everything in between. Let go of your plan and trust His plan for your life. It’s the best way to live righteous and in His perfect will. Trust God with your happiness.
