What Is Being Instilled In You?

This morning the Holy Spirit gave me one word: Instill.
I looked up the word and it means: gradually but firmly establish (an idea or attitude, especially a desirable one) in a person's mind.
Another definition: To infuse (knowledge or attitudes) into the mind of another, slowly or gradually; to impart gradually;
As I sought more and more, I ran across this scripture:
Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me." Psalm 51:10
This kind of penitent prayer shows our awareness of a Creator—and a Redeemer—who can instill in us a right and pure heart, even after we’ve messed up. As we come to the Father every morning, He is gradually but firmly establishing a right spirit within us.
When I transitioned into reading Deuteronomy 26 for the Scriptural Bible Study, which talks about giving the Lord our first fruits, the word instill resonated there too. As we study the word of God, the mind of God is firmly established or instilled into us gradually. Therefore when we learn what God commands us to do, it is instilled in us to do. We are to give our first to God. The tithe is our first fruit. The tithe means 10 percent. We are to give God our first moments of the day. When we surrender and allow God to instill in us a right and pure heart, we operate from that place. It is a willing place, where we obey fully - heart and soul.
As I was reading this chapter about first fruits, this offering was the children of Israel’s opportunity to remind themselves and declare publicly that it was God who had given them the land flowing with milk and honey as promised, and that the produce they got from the land was the proof, so they were to offer it back to God.
I started thinking about a referral fee, where you give something to the one who gave it to you. Now the difference is that the tithe BELONGS to God, it’s not even ours in the first place. But flow with me here for a second. Why is it that we have no problem giving people who refer business to us a portion of the money that we only could have gotten because of their referral? But when it comes to giving God His portion, we somehow forget that we only could have gotten what we have because of Him being the true source of everything. Isn’t that interesting?
Today let us be encouraged to allow God to instill in us a right spirit. Let us be encouraged to allow God to instill in us a pure heart. Let us be encouraged to allow God to instill in us a willingness to obey Him and His commands. And when we do, Deuteronomy 26:19 says: that he will elevate you to praise, fame, and glory above all the nations he has made, and that you will be a holy people to the Lord your God as he promised.
What are you allowing to be instilled in you? And by who?
What are you instilling in others around you (like your spouse, children, family, friends, or coworkers)?
SALVATION PRAYER
If you don’t know Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior and you’re not a believer, but you have a desire to be, all you have to do is openly confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead (Romans 10:9). When you pray that prayer, you are saved. Get connected with a good, bible-based church in your community, stay connected to other believers, and start having daily conversations through prayer with God every single day. Welcome to your new life with Jesus Christ!!!
