Hope for Restoration

New Living Translation

WHAT DID GOD SAY TO ME THIS MORNING

This morning the Holy Spirit reminded me to keep hope alive and be strong…restoration is coming! I prayed and felt a bit sleepy this morning, but I kept pushing. As I grabbed my bible, I said, Lord give me a fresh Word for today. I flipped right to Isaiah 35!!!! I can’t stress enough how God will answer you right away when you truly believe He will.

As I read Isaiah 35, I realized that today is the one year anniversary of my Uncle’s accident. He was driving his tractor along a highway and a driver who wasn’t paying attention rear ended him and caused the tractor to flip which threw my uncle onto the highway. But God! Can you say that with me this morning. But God. I won’t even allow my mind to go back to that place a year ago when we found out, because this morning, the Lord wants me (and you) to focus on hope. He wants you to focus on hope in your situation. We can’t keep reliving the accident part, we need to revisit the hope parts of the story. We need to remember that God is control and He has been the whole time. God gets the glory because He has answered our prayers over and over and over again. Has my uncle awakened from his unconscious state? Not yet! Today the Lord is saying, don’t look at the time that has passed because time for Me is not the same as time for you.

In Isaiah 35:3, it says: With this news, strengthen those who have tired hands, and encourage those who have weak knees. I thank God for strengthening my family over the last 365 days. He has been faithful to us this entire time! We have truly come this far by faith (our family’s theme song at every family reunion). I don’t find it strange at all that my scriptural surprise TODAY is Isaiah 35, a message of hope for restoration. My favorite verses that are chocked full of encouragement are verses 4-6.

(4) Say to those who are afraid, “Be strong, and do not fear, for your God is coming to destroy your enemies. He is coming to save you. (5) And when He comes, He will open the eyes of the blind and unstop the ears of the deaf. (6) The lame will leap like a deer, and THOSE WHO CAN NOT SPEAK WILL SHOUT AND SING! Springs will gush forth in the wilderness, and streams will water the desert. Isaiah 35:4-6 New Living Translation

When I read these verses, I knew the Holy Spirit wanted me and my family to be encouraged. You will notice the part of the verses that I bolded. My uncle is a singer!!! Come on now!! That alone is worthy of a shout of praise!!

Here is what else the Holy Spirit said to me:

  • Be encouraged.

  • Be strong.

  • I will restore.

  • What seems dry, desolate, deserted, and dead, I will restore with my LIVING WATER. It will gush forth!

  • Keep hope alive.

  • Keep the faith and don’t give up.

  • Nothing is impossible with Me, no matter what it looks like to you.

I believe the Word of the Lord this morning y’all and I know He is not just speaking of my uncle’s situation. The Holy Spirit is speaking to any situation in my life and in your life that seems dry, desolate, deserted, and dead. He can and He will restore it. And not only will he restore it, in Isaiah 35 1-2, 7-10, it describes how those dry things in your life will be restored full of springs gushing forth, an abundance of flowers, and deserts turning as green as the mountains. One of the words used in the text was FLOURISH. And then in verse 2 it says, the Lord will display his glory and the splendor of our God. That’s what everything we endure is all about…God’s glory!

Wow! What a way to kick off this Thursday…full of hope!

Hearts and Hugs!
