WHAT DID GOD SAY TO ME THIS MORNING

This morning was so amazing! It started off with me having to pray out the sleepiness. I let my praise and worship music play for a little longer while I laid in the bed. I knew I needed to get up, but even though I recently celebrated a 100-days-of-early-morning prayer milestone, I still had to fight the mattress. I got up 15 minutes after 5, so that meant I would be praying at least 15 minutes after 6. The hour must be done. It’s not negotiable.

This morning the Holy Spirit gave me instructions for my book writing and also told me to encourage people even more through my writing. I pray that I can do that as you read today’s conversation with God.

Today’s scriptural surprise (see previous post to understand what this means) is Song of Songs. I was shocked when I opened the bible to this book. I have heard of this book but I have never really taken the time to learn it nor have I been privy to hearing many preachers use it as a text for sermons. I started reading and chapter 2, verse 7 really stood out to me. I was like, okay Holy Spirit, you’re saying for me not to awaken love until the time is right, right?

As I kept reading more of the chapters, I was like…whoa, this book of the bible reads like a romance novel! I was even more intrigued because I have always been what some call a “hopeless romantic” and I now realize that saying you’re hopeless is pretty negative… when you think about it. So I am NOT that. I am just a person who loves romance and all the depth that it beholds when it’s real. My heart’s desire is to experience a romance from God, which leads me to how the morning went as I pondered why the Holy Spirit had sent me to this book of the bible. And to be totally transparent, I tried to do another scriptural surprise to get more clarity and I ended up in Matthew 23 and 24. At that point, I was like, Holy Spirit, I really need your guidance on tying all this together for me.

I heard the Holy Spirit say:

  • Make sure everything you do is according to my timing.

  • Don’t get ahead of me.

  • Don’t let anyone mislead you (this was from Matthew)

  • Don’t be afraid to seek Me and study My Word. I want you to have fun discovering more about Me through My Word.

  • Don’t rush through My Word either.

I knew I was hearing from God, but I still felt unsure what the actual verse in Song of Songs meant.

When you don’t fully understand something that God speaks to you, continue to seek Him until it becomes clear. This morning, as I read Song of Songs, and the only message I got was “not to awaken love until the time is right,” I asked the Holy Spirit was that all I was suppose to get from that? I also asked what does the verse really mean for me?

Now y’all know I don’t bring my phone into the prayer closet for obvious reasons. Just my bible, my journal, and my prayer book that routs out demons (I love this little powerful book by John Eckhardt). But I felt the need to come out of the prayer closet and grab my phone so I could read another translation other than King James Version and New Living Translations (I have the Holy Bible People’s Parallel Edition). I kept seeking God on this verse. As a side note, be encouraged to keep seeking God. Don’t rush yourself with God. Sometimes He wants more of your time to show you things you have never seen, or to give you new revelation on things you have seen.

Today, I learned some new things through the scriptural surprise in Song of Songs. I even found a 7-day bible study plan in my Youversion Bible app for Song of Songs. I listened to the first day and I got so excited!!! God knows my romantic desires of being in a right relationship with Him. He also knows my desire to be in a love relationship that HE wants for me. So today God said, Fon, let’s start the conversation about love.

I am over here giddy and cheesing like a cheshire cat!! If you’re like me and have a desire to be in a right relationship with God AND in the right relationship that God wants you to be in with someone, then join me as I study this book of the bible, Song of Songs. It’s hot and steamy too. I will let you read it to see what I mean. In the first day of the bible study plan on the Youversion app, the guy who’s leading the bible study said this: God wants to satisfy us with Himself! Now that’s something to be super excited about!!!!!! I can’t wait to read through the rest of it. And yes of course I want to zoom through it all today, but I hear God saying…don’t rush it. Love is patient.

YES GOD!!! I HEAR YOU!!! :-)
