Praise Through the Pain

You can pass through his open gates with the password of praise. Come right into his presence with thanksgiving. Come bring your thank offering to him and affectionately bless his beautiful name! — Psalms 100:4 TPT

Have you ever had your finger shut in a door? Or jammed in something? It is excruciatingly painful. I mean the pain goes on and on. You even think it’s stopped and then it returns throbbing even more.

Well yesterday as I was exiting my front door to remove some chairs off the porch due to high winds, the front door slammed on my finger due to that same high wind! Now see the winds have to obey God and I think the wind must have thought it was time to play with my fingers. The same fingers I use to write my conversations with God everyday.

OH NO YOU DIDN’T WIND!

When it happened I hollered out. I began to shake my hand vigorously because of the pain. I began to groan. My kids were to the rescue with ice, but I couldn’t hold ice on it. All I could do was keep shaking it. Then I started praying in my heavenly language, even as the tears streamed down my face. Oh my goodness, my finger was in so much pain. But there came a moment DURING the pain, that I just started praising God. I even lifted my hands up to the sky and praised Him.

This morning, Holy Spirit told me:

  • Always praise your way through the pain.

  • Just praise.

  • Keep praising MY NAME.

  • Praise confuses the enemy.

  • Praise My Name, Jesus Christ.

  • There is rest even in praising Me.

I wrote all of this down. I praise God that my right hand which is my writing hand is not the one that was injured. I can still write what He says with ease. Praise God!

I realized yesterday during this whole situation that the enemy was trying to attack my already answered prayers. Remember I had commanded the winds of Hurricane IDA to fizzle out and dissipate. God had answered my prayers! Now here it was a high thunderstorm wind trying to come in and slam my finger two days later! Again I say, Oh No You Don’t Wind! Then God had just told me yesterday that I would deliver with ease. Guess what? I am still delivering this blogcast with ease. It’s still getting done, even with a jammed finger!!! Praise God!

But I started praising God during the pain! See my praise to God was not about what I feeling, because truth be told, it took me a moment to get to that. But praise God it didn’t take me long to start praising, even in my pain!

We are to praise the Lord for WHO HE IS and What HE HAS done, what HE IS doing, and what HE Will do. We can praise our God because He is worthy of ALL our praise, no matter what we are facing. God loves us and He won’t ever fail us, no matter how it looks or in my case, how it feels. I trust God no matter what! I praise God no matter what!

I will praise the Lord no matter what happens. I will constantly speak of his glories and grace. — Psalms 34:1 TLB

I really could just stop at that scripture right there! I will praise the Lord NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS! But I learned yesterday to start praising Him even at the height of the pain. Praise the Lord at the onset. Praise the Lord during those first moments. When I took my focus off of my pain and put it on praising the Lord, I felt the pain start to diminish. Hallelujah!

How about we say Hallelujah instead of ouch! Let’s praise the Lord at the ONSET of the pain!

There’s a story in the Bible in 2 Chronicles, chapter 20 that says as soon as they started singing praises, the Lord defeated the enemy! Read the whole story, but the point taken is that, they LED WITH PRAISE. As Holy Spirit told me, praise confuses the enemy. The enemy trying to figure out why I am not cursing or being mad or taking my pain out on others (like my kids) who had nothing to do with what caused the pain! Plus the enemy definitely didn’t want me to show and model to my kids how to handle pain, by giving the Lord praise while enduring it.

And at the moment they began to sing and to praise, the Lord caused the armies of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir to begin fighting among themselves, and they destroyed each other! — 2 Chronicles 20:22 TLB

Today be encouraged to praise the Lord at all times, even during the painful times.

Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord. — Psalms 150:6 NIV

I will bless the Lord at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth. — Psalms 34:1 KJV

SALVATION PRAYER

If you don’t know Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior and you’re not a believer, but you have a desire to be, all you have to do is openly confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead (Romans 10:9). When you pray that prayer, you are saved. Get connected with a good, bible-based church in your community, stay connected to other believers, and start having daily conversations through prayer with God every single day. Welcome to your new life with Jesus Christ!!!
