Proverbs Is Required Reading for Wisdom!

MY CONVERSATIONS WITH GOD

Welcome to the OABG Daily Blog and Podcast!

Recently I have had several opportunities to be with my family. As we all know, during this pandemic, we have been socially distanced and not been gathering in large groups. After enjoying my daughter’s birthday and then having an unscheduled family day yesterday for Labor Day because my newlywed cousin came to town, I realized how important family is to me. As we were leaving my aunt’s house last night, my son said, “Mommy, I love having times like we did today.” My reply to him was, “Me too son, me too.”

As I drove away thinking about all the laughs we had, I knew that family time needed to be prioritized a whole lot more. Now that’s not to say, we about to just be reckless and not follow the rules, but I realized even more that I want a home full of laughter, joy, and good veggies. LOL! Nope, I am still not eating meat y’all, even though my brother came with a ton of meat in tow over my aunt’s house. LOL!

This morning as I just laid in the bed talking to the Lord, I realized how much the family unit means to him too. That’s why He designed it the way He did. As I was reading and studying Proverbs 19, there were a few verses that talked about how children are to be with their parents and how parents are to ensure that we discipline our children. Here are a few other verses that really stood out in the Scriptural Bible Study of Proverbs 19:

  • Enthusiasm without knowledge is no good; being hasty causes you to make mistakes. The Holy Spirit said to me: Don’t be so anxious or overzealous without talking to Me about it. Don’t be so quick to act before you talk to me. Be sure to get knowledge from me first, otherwise your quickness to do it can cause errors.

  • Don’t be mad at God for something you foolishly did.

  • Don’t think you can lie on someone or about something and get away with it. You won’t.

  • Good sense + understanding = success!

  • Having some insight will give you patience. The Holy Spirit said things may not be happening how you want or when you want, but Seek Me for insight because this will help you understand better and help you wait patiently. As I heard that, I remembered that God will give me a peace that surpasses understanding, so even when I do understand, He will give me peace about it.

  • Don’t be a foolish child.

  • Don’t be a nagging wife.

  • You can inherit a house and wealth from your parents, but a wise wife can only come from God.

  • Laziness will make you go hungry.

  • When you are obedient and keep commands, you preserve your life, but when you don’t care and just do what you want to do and be disobedient, you will die.

  • Kindness to the poor is a loan to the Lord and He will reward the lender!

  • Discipline your children while there is hope, otherwise you will ruin their lives.

  • Hot -tempered people must pay the penalty. If you rescue them once, you will have to do it again.

  • Get all the advice and instruction you can, so you will be wise the rest of your life.

  • You can make plans, but the Lord’s purpose will prevail.

  • God has a bigger dream for us than the American dream. He made us for greater things. We all have unique callings for each one of our lives. We are to seek God and His calling for our lives. Seek means attempt to find. It also means to ask for help in finding. In the Bible, seek means to seek God’s presence. Seek His face. I heard Dr. Myles Munroe say I would rather be where God is verses where He used to be.

  • Those who make fun of others will be judged!

I don’t know about you, but I think Proverbs should be required reading for everyone starting in Kindergarten. Instead of Dr. Suess, we need to be reading Proverbs!! LOL! But thank God we are getting it now and God has given us another day to be wise and follow His Way!

SALVATION PRAYER

If you’re not a believer and have a desire to be, openly confess and declare with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead (Romans 10:9). When you pray that prayer out loud, you are saved. Get connected with a good, bible-based church in your community and start having a conversation through prayer with God every day. And let me be the first to welcome you to your new life with Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. YAAAAY!!!!! You made the best decision you could ever make! Feel free to email me at info@onassignmentbyGod.com and let me know about your newfound life or if you need prayer for anything.
