How often have you prayed for relief verses praying for the root to be cut in an area in your life? This is the conversation Holy Spirit and I had this morning as I was praying for my grandmother to be healed from inflammation in her body. I said Lord, I don’t want her to just get relief, I want that pain to be taken out from the root, never to return again!
The Holy Spirit said, Yes, I CAN DO FULL HEALINGS. Believe for FULL HEALINGS, the kind that never return again!
My question for you this morning, is have you only be using part of your authority or are you using your FULL authority can healing in the name of Jesus, casting out demons in the name of Jesus? Like are you praying and healing and casting out the ROOT of the things?
We often hear people say God is still doing miracles. God is still in the blessing business. But when was the last time a miracle happened because of the authority that flowed from YOUR MOUTH in Jesus name? Miracles are the visible validation to the power of God. The whole point of the hardship and pain that comes into our lives as believers is to show our faith in OUR GOD. No circumstance or hardship or health issue we deal with is outside of God’s sovereign control and care. He uses our adversities to glorify himself, accomplish his purposes, bring others to Christ and strengthen your faith.
Think about that for a moment. Don’t you always come out of adversity stronger than ever? But what I want to encourage you with today is that we got to stop praying band-aid prayers and begin to pray prayers that deal with stuff at the ROOT! You can cut a weed or pull it out by the root. Both will immediately show that the weed is gone, but only one way will keep it from coming back up. And you never see one weed. So we have to pull ALL OF THE WEEDS in our lives up by the root! Yeah that requires a little more effort, a little more strength, and a little more work, but our Father God can do anything but fail! We need HIM TO PULL IT OUT BY THE ROOT!
As I was reading Acts chapter 8 for the Scriptural Bible Study (I hope you’re still reading with me), there were several verses that stood out. Definitely Acts 8:7 which says: For unclean spirits, crying out with a loud voice, came out of many who were possessed, and many who were paralyzed and lame were healed.
Did y’all know that most of our sickness and infirmity is rooted in evil spirits? That sickness is a curse? Did you know this? Cancer is rooted in bitterness, unforgiveness, resentment, and slander of the tongue? But right now we have the authority to break, rebuke, and cast out any spirit of cancer. We have the authority to lose ourselves and command these cancer spirits, high blood pressure spirits, high cholesterol spirits, asthma spirits, diabetes spirits to COME OUT IN THE NAME OF JESUS.
See a band-aid prayer would be for the medicine you’re taking for these illnesses to not make you more sick or that you can take them with no issue. But we have more authority than medicine with the name of Jesus to bind and loose. Matthew 16:19 says: “I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.
As I was reading Acts chapter 8 and the study notes in my Bible, I learned a few things:
Repentance and prayer is needed to root out the evil ways and desires that have been part of our lives for so long.
God can use a person or a group of people’s wicked actions to fulfill his purposes.
The Holy Spirit cannot be bought but is sovereignly and freely given (Acts 8:18-20)
God is a not a slot machine to be used for our carnal desires.
We can pray for things to be taken out at the root.
The Good News of Jesus can destroy racial barriers (Acts 8:25)
We are to pray regularly for God to bring people across our paths that we can share the love of God in Jesus Christ. There are specific people who have been assigned to us. (Acts 8:29-35).
As believers we are to know the Scriptures so that we can be prepared to help unbelievers understand and respond to the gospel, and also help other believers grow in their faith.
Let us be encouraged today to use our authority fully! We have the authority to heal, cast out demons, tread on serpents and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy (Luke 9:1 and Luke 10:19). That’s why we got to study our Bibles…so we can learn how to use our authority most effectively!
