Show Me Your ID
My conversation this morning with Holy Spirit was about identification. I want to jump right into what He said to me:
Identify with who you are in Christ.
See yourself as I SEE YOU.
Don’t identify with anything or anyone other than Me.
Anyone who belongs to Christ is a new person. The past is forgotten, and everything is new. — 2 Corinthians 5:17 CEV
We know that our old (unrenewed) self was nailed to the cross with Him in order that [our] body [which is the instrument] of sin might be made ineffective and inactive for evil, that we might no longer be the slaves of sin. — Romans 6:6 AMPC
These are the two scriptures that kept the conversation about identification going. I also started to think about how we identify ourselves through what we wear, what we say, who we represent, what we represent, etc.
Many of us are believers, but we don’t actually show our identification as believers. We still rep that old nature. In 2 Corinthians 5:17, it says when we are IN CHRIST, old things have passed away and all things have become new.
There was an article I was reading online regarding identity, and it said: Evidence that you have put your faith in Christ is that you will be a new creature with new desires and affections for Christ and His Word.
That’s definitely my testimony. That’s definitely my proof of me being a new creature in Christ. My desires have been retrained. I don’t want it if Jesus Christ don’t want it for me. My affection for Christ is evident in my walk and in my talk. See when you love someone, you just don’t treat them bad. I believe that was R & B singer Donell Jones who said that. LOL! Y’all see how songs just pop in my head. But you see how it’s not about Donell’s lyrics and that song, which is titled, Where I Wanna Be. It’s about me telling you that when you love God, you don’t treat Him bad with your actions.
As new creatures in Christ, we daily represent Jesus Christ. So anything that identifies you with your old life before Christ should have died in you because the resurrected Savior, Jesus Christ, lives on the inside fo you.
For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. — Colossians 3:3
When I was in different organizations in my old life (which has now passed away), I wore identifiable gear or paraphernalia that represented I was a part of that group. But now that I am a new creature in Christ, Galatians 3:27 says:
for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. — Galatians 3:27
Be encouraged today to see yourself as God sees you! That’s what He reminded me of in our conversation this morning. Anything that identifies with the old me must stay buried because of what Christ did for me (and what He did for you).
Holy Spirit bars: Show me your ID! Does it show the world that you identify with Me, JC, Jesus Christ, the one who came and saved my life!
P.S. I just love my Conversations With God! Don’t you?

SALVATION PRAYER
If you don’t know Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior and you’re not a believer, but you have a desire to be, all you have to do is openly confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead (Romans 10:9). When you pray that prayer, you are saved. Get connected with a good, bible-based church in your community, stay connected to other believers, and start having daily conversations through prayer with God every single day. Welcome to your new life with Jesus Christ!!!
