Testing In Session
Testing in Session
Those were the words I heard this morning from Holy Spirit. But He didn’t stop there. He also said:
Testing checks to see where you are.
Testing of your faith.
Testing of your resolve.
Testing of your ability to wait.
Testing your strength.
Trust Me on each new level I bring you to.
Pass the test!
The last few months (maybe even longer) have felt like I have been in a testing season. But I noticed Holy Spirit said session, not season. And sessions are shorter than seasons, so if that is any indication of time, that means my testing period won’t be long. But how we define long and how God define longs is two different things. Bottom line: We have to trust God during the test!
I remember as a kid that I couldn’t stand test taking days. I didn’t like tests. I always felt like I had test anxiety. I didn’t focus during test prep in class because I didn’t want to be taking the test in the first place. But me not wanting to take the test, never (and I mean never) stopped me from having to take tests.
Now you may be saying, you weren’t smart enough to be exempt from taking tests? And my answer to you would be…TESTS…not exams! LOL! There is a difference. So yes I was able to exempt out of some exams, but tests were often required and necessary in many parts of my education and even my career. And before I even got to a career, my part time job at the grocery store used to give us produce tests before our shift. I still remember the produce code of 4011 for bananas to this day because of that test. Now don’t ask me what the code is for asparagus because I have no clue. Nowadays, they put stickers on all the produce. Go figure! HA!
But as I wrote down and thought about my conversation this morning with Holy Spirit about tests, I thought about people in the Bible who were tested. My guy Job came right up to the top of the list! Job went through some stuff didn’t he?
Here are a few scriptures that I found while researching using the words “test.” I believe Holy Spirit used these scriptures to keep our conversation going this morning.
17 “What are human beings that you think so much of them?
What are they that you pay so much attention to them?
18 You check up on them every morning.
You test them every moment. — Job 7:17-18 NIRV
When I read a little bit more into these verses where Job was asking…why are you paying so much attention to me by visiting me every morning and testing me every moment. But in verse 18, I learned that Job was first amazed at the mere fact that God was visiting him and then he was even more amazed that God was testing him every moment.
But the part that really stood out to me was that God was purifying Job through testing. God permits tests for his glorious purposes. So I know that this testing session is meant to purify me so that God can get the glory from me living an even MORE PURIFIED life!
This testing session is designed with God’s purpose in mind. For me to be firm in my faith; to be resolved and not shaken by the things happening around me (one definition of the word resolve means to “make up one’s mind); to get better and better at waiting on God; and to always depend on God for my strength, knowing that even when I am weak, HE IS STRONG.
See every year, during our school days, we would advance to the next grade. It was a new level of learning which brought on new levels of testing. Today’s conversation with Holy Spirit was to let me know that I must trust God on every new level that He brings me to. I can’t pass today’s test with last year’s strategies.
To prepare me for this next level, God has to purify me even more so that I can have fresh vision of Him that goes far beyond what I been having.
In one of the study notes written by Dr. Tony Evans in my Tony Evans Study Bible (get you one), Dr. Evans said in midst of trials, we should pray for deliverance and also pray that God would use our circumstances to allow us to see Him, understand Him, and worship Him as never before.
We must pass this test to get to the next level so that we can give God glory like never before!
But he knows the pathway that I take; if he tested me, I would come forth like gold. — Job 23:10 NET
Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. — James 1:2-3
Then the Lord spoke to Moses. He said, “I will rain down bread from heaven for you. The people must go out each day. Have them gather enough bread for that day. Here is how I will test them. I will see if they will follow my directions. — Exodus 16:4 NIRV
Testing is in session. Let’s pass God’s test and give Him the glory!

SALVATION PRAYER
If you don’t know Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior and you’re not a believer, but you have a desire to be, all you have to do is openly confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead (Romans 10:9). When you pray that prayer, you are saved. Get connected with a good, bible-based church in your community, stay connected to other believers, and start having daily conversations through prayer with God every single day. Welcome to your new life with Jesus Christ!!!
