The Chase
The Chase
WHAT DID GOD SAY TO ME THIS MORNING
Did you know that God will chase after you? He will! He loves you just THAT much to chase after you, especially after you have a conversation with Him and try to go in the opposite direction that He tells you to, like our boy Jonah did.
This morning, the Holy Spirit sent me to the books of Obediah (I don’t think I had ever read that book or at least I can’t recall it) and the book of Jonah. But when I prayed, I had asked the Holy Spirit for an encouraging word and when I opened my Bible for the scriptural surprise, it was on the first last part of Obediah and the first part of Jonah. So of course since I had not read Obediah, I flipped back a page to start at the beginning and that’s when I saw something that I had previously underlined. It was Amos 9:13!!! In this verse, the Lord said, a time will come when the grain and grapes will grow faster than they can be harvested!!! YES LORD!! I receive that word of encouragement!
After getting my encouragement, I read Obediah, which talked about the land of Edom and it’s punishment and Israel being restored. Then I read Jonah. Now my book, Permission Slips, actually ends with the story of Jonah, so I was curious what the Holy Spirit would reveal to me today. Here’s what He said:
I will do whatever I need to do to get your attention, so that you can do what I created you to do.
Jonah is a prime example of God calling you to do something, and you run from it. Then you call on the Lord to help you now that you have ran and got caught up in a situation. But God is still patient and faithful to keep you!
The assignment hasn’t changed just because you ran from it.
You may be in a storm because you are running from Me.
When you return to Me or just come to Me, I will tell you what to do.
You can run, but I will chase you down, because I love you THAT MUCH!
I pray that you read Jonah and get a real understanding of the story. Or grab a copy of my book to see how I use the story for God to get the glory.
Have a happy Saturday and remember that you can’t outrun God. And why would you want to. HA! He has the best plan for your life!
