This morning the Holy Spirit gave me two words. But I have to be honest. I had to get really really still to hear them. My natural mind wanted me to get nervous about not having a conversation, but my faith said, talk to me Holy Spirit.
As I sat and waited to hear, I started praying again in my heavenly language. That’s when I heard the two words: Transform & Transformer. Now I didn’t know what they meant, so I said, “Holy Spirit can you tell me what that means or what you want me to get from that?” This is the kind of conversation we had this morning. I share it because not always will me and the Holy Spirit have a non-stop flow conversation. Sometimes He may just give me two words and then once I get into writing position, He will reveal even more to. That’s what happened this morning.
The first image that popped up in my mind though when He said transformer, was the cartoon/movie, TRANSFORMERS. I thought about the original transformers who would turn from cars and trucks to these super heros when it was time to fight the enemy. Or at least I think that’s what they were doing. I really don’t know because as a kid watching it, I only got glued in when they were doing the actual transforming back and forth.
I heard the Holy Spirit then say: “It’s time to transform out of the old and into the new.” As I sat there with the vision of the transformer show in my head of them going back and forth, I was like, okay Lord, you’re saying that while on the show, they went back and forth from car to super hero type fighting men, you want me to NOT go back and forth, but to stay in the new because old things are passed away (2 Corinthians 5:17). I don’t have to transform back.
He said, “No more going back and forth. Old things are passed away. Stop trying to transform BACK when people are uncomfortable with the new you. Stop listening to music that you used to listen to BACK in the day.
WHOA! Okay, I got to keep it all the way real with yall. Since we have been on quarantine, I have found myself jumping into some of live DJ parties on Instagram. And when I say, I have jammed to some of that “Old” music that I used to listen to when I wasn’t a new creature in Christ, I was jamming. And I ain’t gonna lie, I felt some kind of way, but quickly dismissed it because, hey, I pray every day. I even justified it by saying I can listen to the instrumentals. And while I don’t think there is anything wrong with dope beats on a song, the Holy Spirit was saying, don’t transform back to that time in your life where I wasn’t NUMBER ONE! He said, “be a transformer. Be a person who helps transform the lives of others with how you live your life. But you will confuse people if you keep dipping your toe BACK into that life…even if it’s just the instrumentals. Why? Because you know the lyrics. And the lyrics don’t align with who you are NOW!
I just have to breathe y’all because I actually felt this conviction every time I jumped in on a live! The Lord said, you don’t have to participate to relate!!! MY GOD MY GOD MY GOD! He said, you’ll draw people to you to be transformed because you can relate, but you’re a NEW creature in Christ, so relate but don’t participate!
I don’t know whether to drop the mic or throw it down because the Holy Spirit is straight correcting me right now and I totally get it. I mean I really do. What’s amazing is that when I jumped on Instagram Lives of people who are trending in the same direction as me, it was absolutely amazing! I am talking about dope conversations, dope music, and many laughs, but all in alignment with living a TRANSFORMED LIFE!
Be encouraged today that once you transform out of the old into the new, the Holy Spirit is saying…I GOT YOU. There is nothing that will fill you up like Me, says the Lord!
