Watch God Provide and Stop Hustling!

Listen to the podcast version of this blog.

Have you ever worried about how you would pay a bill? What you would eat? How you would pay for a roof over your head?

When I was in college, I used to have chest pains. And come to find out, it was always related to money. The worry and stress would always manifest in my chest (hashtag bars). LOL! And I remember worrying so much about money. This continued even after college, but I was so thankful at a point where I got married that I wouldn’t have to worry about paying the bills anymore. And guess what? Neither one of us knew what we were doing really and ended up getting ourselves caught up into more debt, which led to more stress. No matter how much we worked, we were still robbing Peter to pay Paul (where did that saying come from anyway)? Are we talking Bible when we say that phrase? LOL! I don’t even know.

But anyway, as I was reading the 11th Chapter of Deuteronomy for our Scriptural Bible Study, a few scriptures really stood out and my chest responded much differently than it did back in the day. What I read in God’s Word relaxed me. It assured me. It calmed me. Here’s what it said:

“Keep every command I am giving you today, so that you may have the strength to cross into and possess the land you are to inherit, and so that you may live long in the land the Lord swore to your ancestors to give them and their descendants, a land flowing with milk and honey. 10 For the land you are entering to possess is not like the land of Egypt, from which you have come, where you sowed your seed and irrigated by hand as in a vegetable garden. 11 But the land you are entering to possess is a land of mountains and valleys, watered by rain from the sky. 12 It is a land the Lord your God cares for. He is always watching over it from the beginning to the end of the year.

13 “If you carefully obey my commands I am giving you today, to love the Lord your God and worship him with all your heart and all your soul, 14 I will provide rain for your land in the proper time, the autumn and spring rains, and you will harvest your grain, new wine, and fresh oil. 15 I will provide grass in your fields for your livestock. You will eat and be satisfied.

Doesn’t that make you want to leap for joy! When we are obedient and do what He says do, we can WATCH GOD PROVIDE!

See when the Israelites were in Egypt, they had to irrigate the land by hand. They had to hustle. But the land that God was giving them was gonna be watered by rain!!! Come on Deuteronomy 11:11!!! Y’all, Dr. Evans done called mother nature a fictional character and it done changed my whole vernacular! Ain’t no such thing as mother nature. God sends the rain! Y’all see how we be low-key giving little g gods credit and not knowing it? Forgive us Father! We repent and know better now!

Now I can’t just share this part without sharing the parts that warn us. It says we have to be careful and not be enticed to worship other little g gods or turn away from God. If we do turn away from God, then the Lord will shut the sky down. Ain’t no more rain. You won’t produce nothing and you will perish quickly. Yeah, I am gonna pass on that right there. What about you? I mean when you think about your life and think back to times where you were disobedient, it was like God shut you down from producing? You called it a sophomore slump or lacking creativity. You may have even just thought it wasn’t your season. Well it was because of sin and disobedience. We were reaping from what we sowed in sin! Yikes!

But thanks be to Jesus that we can repent and get back in right standing with God. The 11th Chapter also advises us to remember and obey. Do whatever you must to remember God’s Word and obey it. Also teach your children to obey. It says to talk about these commands all the time. What are you talking about all the time? The Bible says to treat these commands like we did when we gossiped. LOL! Talk about it when you at the house, in the streets, when you lay down, and when you get up. Write them and put them up around your house. Put a sticky note on your forehead if you have to. Just remember His commands and obey them by any means necessary.

The choice is ours. We can obey and be blessed or disobey and be cursed. Check out verses 26-32 for more details, but bottom line is you have a choice. What do you choose? Obey or Disobey. Watch God pour out to you or watch God dry it all up before you?

I also am encouraged by the verses 22 where if says if we carefully be obedient and love the Lord our God, walk in all His ways, and remain faithful to Him, the Lord will drive out anything (even big and strong things) that is trying to block your blessing. My favorite part is verse 24: Every place the sole of your food treads will be yours. Your territory will extend from north, south, east, and west!!! No one will be able to stand against you; the Lord your God will put fear and dread of you in the all the land where you set foot, as he promised you!!

This makes me want to shout, you hear me??? Every where I set foot in obedience to God is mine! Who’s ready to go posses the land that God already said is ours? Look I don’t care who is currently living in your dream house that God promised you right now. That’s your house!!! I don’t care who got they booty planted in your God-promised position at work…that’s your job! I don’t care what they said about not qualifying or not being able to blah blah blah….what God has for me is for me. What God has for you is for you!

REMEMBER AND OBEY and you will be able to WATCH GOD PROVIDE EACH AND EVERY DAY!!! #bars

SALVATION PRAYER

If you don’t know Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior and you’re not a believer, but you have a desire to be, all you have to do is openly confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead (Romans 10:9). When you pray that prayer, you are saved. Get connected with a good, bible-based church in your community, stay connected to other believers, and start having daily conversations through prayer with God every single day. Welcome to your new life with Jesus Christ!!!
